Appell polynomials and their relatives II. Boolean theory

open access: yes, 2007
The Appell-type polynomial family corresponding to the simplest non-commutative derivative operator turns out to be connected with the Boolean probability theory, the simplest of the three universal non-commutative probability theories (the other two ...

Physiological and Growth Responses of Tropical Dry Forest Tree Seedlings to Water and Nutrient Additions: Comparisons Between Nitrogen Fixers and Non‐Fixers

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 57, Issue 5, September 2025.
This study examined the physiological and growth responses of tropical dry forest tree seedlings to water and nutrient additions, comparing nitrogen (N)‐fixing and non‐fixing species. The results showed that N‐fixing species responded more strongly to nutrient addition, accumulating significantly more biomass and increasing height growth rate. Overall,

Some properties of degenerate Sheffer sequences based on algebraic approach

open access: yesIndian Journal of Pure and Applied Mathematics, 2023
The purpose of this article is to study degenerate Sheffer sequences based on algebraic approach. To this aim, degenerate Stirling numbers are introduced. There are many types of generalized Stirling numbers, e.g. the \(r\)-Stirling numbers and many of these numbers, e.g. Bernoulli numbers, in the end can be used to solve similar problems.

Personality and political representation—How personality traits shape MPs' attitudes toward gender equality

open access: yesLegislative Studies Quarterly, Volume 50, Issue 3, August 2025.
Abstract This study analyzes whether the personality traits of Members of Parliament (MPs) affect their attitudes toward the representation of gender equality issues. Based on the Big Five personality traits, we argue that Openness to Experience and Conscientiousness shape MPs' positions toward gender equality policies through two different pathways ...

Time lags in the regulation of symbiotic nitrogen fixation

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 247, Issue 4, Page 1680-1693, August 2025.
Summary Theory has shown that time lags in the regulation of symbiotic nitrogen (N) fixation (SNF) can be important to the competitive dynamics and ecosystem consequences of N‐fixing trees, but measurements of these time lags are lacking. Here, we used a novel method to measure SNF in seedlings of four N‐fixing tree species that represent tropical and ...

Some identities of higher-order Bernoulli, Euler and Hermite polynomials arising from umbral calculus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper, we study umbral calculus to have alternative ways of obtaining our results. That is, we derive some interesting identities of the higher-order Bernoulli, Euler and Hermite polynomials arising from umbral calculus to have alternative ways ...

Combinatorics and Boson normal ordering: A gentle introduction

open access: yes, 2007
We discuss a general combinatorial framework for operator ordering problems by applying it to the normal ordering of the powers and exponential of the boson number operator.

On an approximation operator and its Lipschitz constant

open access: yesJournal of Numerical Analysis and Approximation Theory, 2002
In this note we consider an approximation operator of Kantorovich type in which expression appears a basic sequence for a delta operator and a Sheffer sequence for the same delta operator.

Media Consumption, Social‐Media Political Tracking, and Vote Intention Across Four Back‐to‐Back Israeli Elections (2019–2022)

open access: yesSocial Science Quarterly, Volume 106, Issue 4, July 2025.
ABSTRACT Objective This study examines how Israel's unprecedented political instability, characterized by five general elections between 2019 and 2022, impacted voter behavior, specifically patterns of media consumption, social media political engagement, and changes in vote intention across consecutive election cycles.

Bridging Gaps in Satellite Observations of River and Delta Landscapes Using Image Warping

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 61, Issue 5, May 2025.
Abstract Satellite images are increasingly used to monitor changes in fluvial landscapes such as channel migration, bar development, and avulsion. Yet, spatial and temporal gaps in image data — due to intervals between observations, cloud cover, or sensor malfunctions — limit their applicability.
