Water scarcity poses a significant life constraint in global drylands that determines species adaptations and mosaic of exposed bare areas and vegetation patches. Runoff‐water redistribution resulting from this spatial configuration has been suggested as a key process controlling water availability for vegetation and ecosystem functioning. However, the

Some identities involving associated sequences of special polynomials [PDF]
In this paper, we study some properties of associated sequences of special polynomials. From the properties of associated sequences of polynomials, we derive some interesting identities of special polynomials.Comment: 17 ...

Parties abroad and migrants' representation in the country of origin
Abstract Some of the reasons for which political parties develop organizations abroad are to represent the emigrants, to mobilize them electorally and to provide support. So far, we know very little about how migrants think about and interpret these actions.

Young children's translanguaging as emergent in and through open‐ended science pedagogies
Abstract Equity‐focused calls for elementary education reform recognize the importance of student and teacher translanguaging, yet nuances of how this process unfolds in early childhood science is an underexplored area. This study examines young plurilingual children's participation in science investigations, with a view toward understanding how open ...

ABSTRACT Against the background of international conflict, UN efforts to preserve peace have often inadvertently created complications between member states. When the UN was deploying peacekeeping forces to the Middle East in response to the Israeli‐Arab conflict in 1948, conflicting priorities arose for Israel, the Arab nations, and also for Denmark ...

The transnational engagement of Afghan diaspora organizations: Drivers of diaspora specialization
Abstract This article delves into the engagement of Afghans in Europe in diaspora organizations (DOs) and examines the factors influencing the varying levels of transnational involvement aiming Afghan DOs (ADOs). Through a fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) of 85 ADOs across Austria, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and the ...

Recursive initial value problems for Sheffer sequences
The combinatorial problem addressed in this paper is the enumeration of certain lattice paths. The paths of interest are those which take unit steps in the North and East directions and have weighted left turns (East followed by North). Furthermore, such paths are restricted to lie either entirely above or entirely below a line of positive slope.
