Shell-in-Shell (SiS): 3D Shell Resonator with 3D Conformal Shell Electrodes
2020 IEEE International Symposium on Inertial Sensors and Systems (INERTIAL), 2020This paper reports the design, fabrication technology and initial testing results of an all fused-silica 3D shell (hemispherical) resonator and capacitive drive/sense electrodes made from a second shell, for use in high-performance gyroscopes. A single fused-silica shell is patterned to form multiple electrodes that follow the curvature of the shell ...

Serverless computing is a recent paradigm to program the cloud. It allows to execute user-defined functions at scale, on demand, and in a pay-per-use manner. This paper reports on adapting the Unix shell for serverless. Our software, called the serverless shell (sshell), runs shell scripts on a serverless platform much like with a regular computer.

OFF-SHELL NILPOTENCY FOR ON-SHELL REDUCIBILITY
Modern Physics Letters A, 1992The direct way of Lagrangian BRS gauge-fixing we proposed recently is applied to reducible gauge theories; antisymmetric tensor gauge theories are considered as definite examples. It enables us to do without ad hoc ghosts for ghosts. It also achieves BRS-exact forms of full gauge-fixing terms by means of off-shell nilpotent BRS transformations.

Core-Shell-Corona Micelles with a Responsive Shell
Angewandte Chemie International Edition, 2001A reactor for the synthesis of gold nanoparticles is one of the uses of a poly(styrene)-block-poly(2-vinylpyridine)-block-poly(ethylene oxide) triblock copolymer (PS-b-P2VP-b-PEO) which forms core-shell-corona micelles in water. Very low polydispersity spherical micelles are observed that consist of a PS core surrounded by a pH-sensitive P2VP shell and

Confining a smectic liquid crystal between two spherical surfaces results in the formation of a complex defect structure characterized by a set of curvature walls that divide the sphere into crescent domains, causing the undulation of the smectic layers. In this paper, we examine in detail these smectic textures and discuss the various possible origins

Distinguishing natural accumulations of shell from Aboriginal shell middens is a problem often faced by archaeologists working in coastal regions (Attenbrow 1984; Ceci 1984; Dortch 1991; McBryde 1973; Statham 1892). I recently investigated two buried layers of shell which their discoverers thought could be Aboriginal shell middens.

A structure model for volume rendering, called a shell, is introduced. Roughly, a shell consists of a set of voxels in the vicinity of the structure boundary together with a number of attributes associated with the voxels in this set. By carefully choosing the attributes and storing the shell in a special data structure that allows random access to the

In his contributions to the monographic series "Manual of Conchology", Henry Pilsbry reviewed the subgroup Tectibranchiata, comprising those opisthobranch snails that (at least primitively) still possess a shell (Pilsbry, 1894-1896). Exemplified by the Cephalaspidea (bubble shells), others included in this group at Pilsbry's time and since were ...

Shell Molding and Shell Coremaking
2008Abstract Shell molding is used for making production quantities of castings that range in weight from a few ounces to approximately 180 kg (400 lb), in both ferrous and nonferrous metals. This article lists the limitations or disadvantages of shell mold casting. It describes the two methods for preparation of resin-sand mixture for shell
