Buckling pressure assessment methods of bellows with thin wall reinforcing rings
This paper describes evaluation methods of in-plane squirm buckling strength of bellows with thin wall reinforcing rings. Many bellows with thin wall reinforcing rings are used in the facilities of nuclear power plants. Bellows used in a vent pipe of the

Bending buckling of box beam by energy method
Recently, high strength steel is used increasingly for plates which constitute the frame structures of vehicles. Since these plates become thinner, the buckling on the plates has been recognized as an important issue for automotive industries.

Temporal structures in shell models [PDF]
The intermittent dynamics of the turbulent GOY shell-model is characterised by a single type of burst-like structure, which moves through the shells like a front. This temporal structure is described by the dynamics of the instantaneous configuration of the shell-amplitudes revealing a approximative chaotic attractor of the dynamics.

On electromagnetic off-shell effects in proton-proton bremsstrahlung [PDF]
We study the influence of the off-shell structure of the nucleon electromagnetic vertex on proton-proton bremsstrahlung observables. Realistic choices for these off-shell effects are found to have considerable influences on observables such as cross ...

Free-form optimization of a shell structure for minimizing maximum stress
In this paper, we present a parameter-free free-form optimization method for the strength design problem of a shell structure. The maximum von Mises stress is minimized under a given volume constraint condition.

Structure of shells in complex networks [PDF]
In a network, we define shell $\ell$ as the set of nodes at distance $\ell$ with respect to a given node and define $r_\ell$ as the fraction of nodes outside shell $\ell$. In a transport process, information or disease usually diffuses from a random node and reach nodes shell after shell. Thus, understanding the shell structure is crucial for the study

Thickness optimization of shell structure for controlling time-dependent responses
In this study, we propose a parameter-free optimization method to control time-dependent responses of a shell structure, where the optimal thickness distribution is determined without design parameterization.

On the shell structure of nuclear bubbles [PDF]
We investigate the shell structure of spherical nuclear bubbles in simple phenomenological shell model potentials. The shell correction energies for doubly magic bubbles may be as large as -40 MeV and probably imply a very long lifetime against spontaneous fission.

Investigation on the Precipitates of IN718 Alloy Fabricated by Selective Laser Melting
The microstructure and precipitates of INCONEL 718 alloy (IN718) fabricated by selective laser melting (SLM) are investigated. The matrix is comprised of the elongated γ grains along Z direction, tilting a few degrees.
