Shielding calculations for Inshas cyclotron
Radiation Physics and Chemistry, 1996Methods used in shielding calculations for the cyclotron vault and experimental rooms of Egypt's first cyclotron laboratory to be erected at the premises of the Nuclear Research Center, Atomic Energy Authority (Inshas) are discussed. Use is made of the removal diffusion theory and of the techniques presented in NCRP-51, Wall and ceiling dimensions are ...

Calculations of Shielding for Large Cyclotrons
IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science, 1971The neutron shielding required for proton accelerators with energies < 400 MeV has been calculated by a convenient and realistic approximation procedure, and is illustrated for the case of a copper target.

Variational Calculations of Lattice Self-Shielding
Nuclear Science and Engineering, 1958A variational method is presented which yields extremely accurate results with brief hand calculation in one-velocity lattice self-shielding problems. (W.D.M.)

Calculation of photon shielding properties for some neutron shielding materials
Nuclear Science and Techniques, 2017The objective of the present study is to calculate photon shielding parameters for seven polyethylene-based neutron shielding materials. The parameters include the effective atomic number (Z eff), the effective electron density (N eff) for photon interaction and photon energy absorption, and gamma-ray ...

Calculation of Polarizabilities and Shielding Factors
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1961Measurements on CaF/sub 2):Tm IH are reported, and measurements on Ca/F/ sub 2/:Yb lV are included for comparison. The crystals were x irradiated at 77 deg K and the ESR spectrum investigated without allowing the crystals to warm up. The spectrum is assigned to Tm/sup 169/ III which is isoelectronic with Yb IV (4f/ sup 13/sup 2/F/sup 7/2/). This result

An Overview of Nuclear Shielding Calculations
1993An account is given of molecular orbital calculations of nuclear shielding. Both ab initio and semi-empirical calculations are considered. Correlation effects relativistic contributions and solvent effects are included. Whoever, in the pursuit of science, seeks after immediate practical utility, may generally rest assured that he will seek in vain.
