Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

BUGJEFF311.BOLIB (JEFF-3.1.1) and BUGENDF70.BOLIB (ENDF/B-VII.0) – Generation Methodology and Preliminary Testing of two ENEA-Bologna Group Cross Section Libraries for LWR Shielding and Pressure Vessel Dosimetry

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2016
Two broad-group coupled neutron/photon working cross section libraries in FIDO-ANISN format, dedicated to LWR shielding and pressure vessel dosimetry applications, were generated following the methodology recommended by the US ANSI/ANS-6.1.2-1999 (R2009)

Attenuation curves of neutrons from 400 to 550 Mev/u for Ca, Kr, Sn, and U ions in concrete on a graphite target for the design of shielding for the RAON in-flight fragment facility in Korea

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology, 2019
Rare isotope beam facilities require shielding data in early stage of their design. There is much less shielding data on neutrons from the reactions between heavy ion beams and matter than the data on neutrons produced by protons.

NMR shieldings from density functional perturbation theory: GIPAW versus all-electron calculations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We present a benchmark of the density functional linear response calculation of NMR shieldings within the Gauge-Including Projector-Augmented-Wave method against all-electron Augmented-Plane-Wave$+$local-orbital and uncontracted Gaussian basis set ...

Alcohol‐induced altered glycans in human tracheal epithelial cells promote bacterial adhesion

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Alcohol induces altered glycans to promote bacteria adhesion. Heavy alcohol drinking is known to increase the risk of bacterial pneumonia. However, the link between alcohol levels and risk of infection remains underexplored. Recently, we found that alcohol induced α2‐6sialo mucin O‐glycans in human tracheobronchial epithelial cells, which mediated the ...

13C NMR reveals no evidence of n-π* interactions in proteins. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
An n = π* interaction between neighboring carbonyl groups has been postulated to stabilize protein structures. Such an interaction would affect the (13)C chemical shielding of the carbonyl groups, whose paramagnetic component is dominated by n = π* and π

Shielding analyses supporting the Lithium loop design and safety assessments in IFMIF-DONES

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology, 2023
The assessment of radiation fields in the lithium loop pipes and dump tank during the operation were performed for International Fusion Materials Irradiation Facility – DEMO-Oriented NEutron Source (IFMIF-DONES) in order to obtain the radiation dose-rate

Finite nuclear mass corrections to electric and magnetic interactions in diatomic molecules [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In order to interpret precise measurements of molecular properties the finite nuclear mass corrections to the Born-Oppenheimer approximation have to be accounted for. It is shown that they can be obtained systematically in the perturbative approach.

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...
