Shielding effects of body - shields for 3D PET.

Igaku butsuri : Nihon Igaku Butsuri Gakkai kikanshi = Japanese journal of medical physics : an official journal of Japan Society of Medical Physics, 2003
We analyzed basic physics characteristics of body-shields which have been considered for screening out radioactivity outside the field of view (OFOV) in positron emission tomography (PET). Phantom experiments were performed with simple rectangular body-shields.

Shielding Effectiveness Theory of Shielding

2019
The hypothesis upon which the present accepted theory of shielding consisting of the equation SE = R + A + B is based is presented. The hypothesis is based on wave theory and the analogy between transmission lines and the penetration of a wave through a barrier. A detailed analysis, comparing the value of the current delivered to a load impedance using

Effect of Absorbing Coating on Shielding Effectiveness of Electromagnetic Shielding Fabric

2018 Progress in Electromagnetics Research Symposium (PIERS-Toyama), 2018
In order to get better effects of electromagnetic protection, the study on the overall shielding effectiveness of electromagnetic shielding fabric by absorbing wave coating is paid more and more attention [1]. But up to now, the influence of different content and kinds of absorbing coating on the shielding effectiveness of electromagnetic shielding ...

Isotope Effects on Nuclear Shielding

Progress in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy, 1984
Publisher Summary Isotope effects have been known for a long time and an excellent review covering the early reports exists. The magnitude of the isotope shift is generally dependent on how remote the isotope substitution is from the nucleus under observation.

Cable Shielding Effectiveness Testing

IEEE Transactions on Electromagnetic Compatibility, 1974
This paper discusses an improved method of measuring the effectiveness of cable shielding and describes the results of tests on single- and multi-branched cables. Effects of significant shielding parameters of cables are also reported. These are the the effect of number of shield braid layers, braid material, braid angle, optical coverage, cable length,

Blast Wall Shielding Effectiveness

Volume 4: Fluid-Structure Interaction, 2017
Blast walls are frequently considered as a potential mitigation option to reduce the applied blast loading on a building or structure in cases where unacceptably high levels of blast damage are predicted. There are three general explosion types of interest with respect to blast loading: High Explosive (HE), Pressure Vessel Burst (PVB), and Vapor Cloud ...

High Effectiveness Shielding Materials and Optimal Shield Design

Journal of Testing and Evaluation, 1992
Abstract A preliminary investigation of the effectiveness of new composite materials under development for shielding against neutrons and photons is reported upon. These materials are made from a proper mix of powders of tungsten, titanium or zirconium hydride and boron carbide, all bonded by hydrogenous materials such as polyethylene or

Superomniphobic Surfaces for Effective Chemical Shielding

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2012
Superomniphobic surfaces display contact angles >150° and low contact angle hysteresis with essentially all contacting liquids. In this work, we report surfaces that display superomniphobicity with a range of different non-Newtonian liquids, in addition to superomniphobicity with a wide range of Newtonian liquids.

Shielding Effectiveness of a Metamaterial Slab

2007 IEEE International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility, 2007
A study of the shielding properties of a metamaterial slab is presented. The metamaterial nature of the slab arises from the negative values of its effective scalar dielectric permittivity in the considered low- frequency region of operation. Such an effective permittivity is the result of a homogenization process of an actual periodic structure which ...

Time-domain magnetic shielding effectiveness of planar stratified shields

2018 International Applied Computational Electromagnetics Society Symposium (ACES), 2018
The shielding effectiveness of a planar multilayered screen is computed in the time domain in the presence of near-field magnetic sources. The proposed numerical method involves the efficient evaluation of classical Sommerfeld integrals and the inverse-Fourier transform through double-exponential formulas.
