New developments in shielding effectiveness measurements - shielding aperture

IEE New EMC Issues in Design: Techniques, Tools and Components Seminar, 2004
Electromagnetic interference occurs in the electronic equipment when an external electromagnetic wave impinges on the equipment and when some of the energy conveyed by the wave is absorbed in the circuits of the equipment. The effectiveness of an enclosure should be based on the energy absorbed by a set of representative enclosure contents when the ...

Shielding Effectiveness of Board Level Shields with Absorbing Materials

2019 IEEE International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility, Signal & Power Integrity (EMC+SIPI), 2019
A method is proposed to extend the shielding effectiveness (SE) of board level shields (BLSs) with absorbing material. Resonances of the metallic shield reduce the electromagnetic interference (EMI) suppression and limit the working frequency range to the fundamental resonant frequency.

A FEM approach to shielding effectiveness in braided-shield cables

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1990
The coupling between an electromagnetic field and a braided-shielded cable is analyzed using a numerical approach. Penetration of the magnetic field through the shield and apertures is described by the homogeneous Helmholtz equation in terms of the magnetic vector potential.

Portable, Shielded, Repeatable and Adjustable Cable Shielding Effectiveness Tester

2021 Asia-Pacific International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility (APEMC), 2021
Improperly constructed shielded cables can cause high electromagnetic emissions due to common-mode currents. Device manufacturers perform cable shielding effectiveness tests to shielded cables to qualify them by measuring the amount of common-mode current that arises in the cable shield.

Shielded cable modeling in PSpice for shielding effect analysis

2012 Asia-Pacific Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility, 2012
This paper gives a method to simulate the shielded cable in PSpice. The multiconductor transmission line theory is applied to deal with the cable system. The influence of the grounding conditions on the shielding effect is studied. Through simulations, it is observed that imperfect grounding of the shield can lead different cross-talk in the inner ...
