Estimation of Shielding Factors for Linear Accelerators*

Health Physics, 2002
There have been a number of persons who have estimated that the use of multi-leaf collimation and IMRT techniques increase the workload in treatment rooms to the extent that assumptions used in shielding calculations should reflect these increased workloads.

Simplified equation for the shielding factor of multiple shielding conductors

Electrical Engineering in Japan, 1976
Electromagnetic interference problems have become increasingly important due to the development of high-voltage bulk power transmission lines and the expansion of ac railway systems. The shielding factor of the shielding conductor is very important in calculating the electromagnetically induced interference voltage.

Shielding commissioning factors in nuclear medicine facilities

Journal of Radiological Protection, 2020
Abstract This article reviews the essential considerations in planning and designing nuclear medicine departments. There are four proposed categories to consider as ‘shielding commissioning factors’ (SCF). The first SCF: ‘Patient flow optimisation and workload’ emphasises the importance of carefully considering patient flow in the ...

Influencing factors and rules of shielding effectiveness of electromagnetic shielding clothing sleeve

International Journal of Clothing Science and Technology, 2020
PurposeThe change rules of the shielding effectiveness (SE) of the sleeve has not been clarified, which leads to the lack of the basis for the design, manufacture and evaluation of the electromagnetic shielding (EMS) clothing.Design/methodology/approachAccording to a simplified analysis model, a series of sleeve samples with different fabrics and ...

Calculation of Polarizabilities and Shielding Factors

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1961
Measurements on CaF/sub 2):Tm IH are reported, and measurements on Ca/F/ sub 2/:Yb lV are included for comparison. The crystals were x irradiated at 77 deg K and the ESR spectrum investigated without allowing the crystals to warm up. The spectrum is assigned to Tm/sup 169/ III which is isoelectronic with Yb IV (4f/ sup 13/sup 2/F/sup 7/2/). This result

Atomic Susceptibilities and Shielding Factors

Physical Review, 1969
A calculation of electric and magnetic susceptibilities and shielding factors for closed-shell atomic systems based on relativistic Hartree-Fock-Slater (RHFS) electron theory is presented. Numerical results are given for the electric dipole and quadrupole, and for the magnetic dipole and octupole cases for closed-shell atoms and ions from $Z=2$ to $Z ...

A new estimation of the axial shielding factors for multishell cylindrical shields

Journal of Applied Physics, 2000
A new, more accurate formula describing double and multiple-shell axial magnetic shielding is obtained as a result of numerical verification of existing estimations. A standard ANSYS® software package was used. Parameters of the numerical model are as follows. Two concentric, closed cylinders of equal thickness and constant permeability are considered.

Determination of the shielding factors for gamma-ray spectrometers

Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 2014
A method for determining the shielding factors for gamma-ray spectrometers is described. The shielding factors are expressed by decomposing the peaked background of the spectrometer into contributions of the detector, spectrometer shield and ambient radiation to the spectrometer background.

The shielding factor of underground cable sheaths

Proceedings of the IEE - Part II: Power Engineering, 1953
The shielding factor of a cable buried in the ground has been investigated, and it is shown that it may be considered in terms of three components. The first of these depends on the sheath construction only, and is the factor normally considered for high-frequency shielding.

Gamma shielding factor for typical houses in Brazil

Radiation Protection Dosimetry, 2006
The housing features in a country depend much on its climate. Dwellings in warm countries are much lighter constructions than in cold ones, which will reflect on the amount of shielding against radiation they provide. In addition to that, wealth is another factor that influences the building's finishing.
