The Risk of Developing Diabetes in Association With Long Working Hours Differs by Shift Work Schedules

open access: yesJournal of Epidemiology, 2016
The impact of long working hours on diabetes is controversial; however, shift work is known to increase the risk of diabetes. This study aimed to investigate the association between long working hours and diabetes among civil servants in Japan separately by shift work schedules.A prospective cohort study was conducted from April 2003 to March 2009.

Submicron Metasurface Reconfigured Multiband Smart Windows

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents a submicron metasurface reconfigured multiband thermochromic smart window. By integrating subwavelength nanostructures into a Fabry−Perot resonator configuration, it mitigates conventional trade‐offs to simultaneously deliver high luminous transmittance and robust solar heating and radiative cooling modulation capabilities ...

Effects of shift work schedule on mood changes among female nurses.

open access: yesThe Japanese journal of psychology, 2003
This study examined the short-term effects of shift work on mood changes. The subjects were 1,608 Japanese female nurses, working on rotating 3-shift schedules consisted of day, evening, and night shift. Repeated measurements of six dimensions of mood and sleep hours in four consecutive days were analyzed.

Polyimide‐Linked Hexaazatriphenylene‐Based Porous Organic Polymer with Multiple Redox‐Active Sites as a High‐Capacity Organic Cathode for Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A high‐capacity polyimide‐linked porous organic polymer (HAT‐PTO) incorporating numerous redox‐active centers is synthesized via a hydrothermal reaction, delivering a high theoretical capacity of 484 mAh g−1. In situ hybridization with carboxyl‐functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes enhances conductivity and stability, achieving 397 mAh g−1 at C ...

Inverse Design of Amorphous Materials With Targeted Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
AMDEN is a diffusion model framework for the inverse design of amorphous materials with targeted properties. By incorporating Hamiltonian Monte Carlo refinement into the denoising process, the framework overcomes the challenge of generating thermally relaxed disordered structures.

Nurse shift patterns, staffing and their association with perceived workload: Sequence analysis of multicentre data

open access: yesInternational Journal of Nursing Studies Advances
Introduction: Although shift work is inevitable in hospitals, some shift patterns and staffing levels are suggested to influence nurses’ workload more than others, which in turn can impact nurses’ health, quality of care, and patient safety.

Monolithic 3D‐Integrated All‐Solid Ion‐Gated Carbon Nanotube Transistors With Tunable Ionic Conductance for Multi‐Timescale Reservoir Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A dual‐timescale reservoir based on monolithically 3D (M3D)‐integrated CNT solid ion‐gated transistors is demonstrated. Tunable ionic dynamics and pulse‐engineered operation enable linear and symmetric synaptic updates. The M3D‐integrated array achieves robust temporal encoding and accurate classification of moving MNIST sequences, highlighting its ...
