Scalable String Reconciliation by Recursive Content-Dependent Shingling [PDF]
We consider the problem of reconciling similar, but remote, strings with minimum communication complexity. This "string reconciliation" problem is a fundamental building block for a variety of networking applications, including those that maintain large-scale distributed networks and perform remote file synchronization.

A chemical signature from fast-rotating low-metallicity massive stars: ROA 276 in omega Centauri [PDF]
We present a chemical abundance analysis of a metal-poor star, ROA 276, in the stellar system omega Centauri. We confirm that this star has an unusually high [Sr/Ba] abundance ratio. Additionally, ROA 276 exhibits remarkably high abundance ratios, [X/Fe], for all elements from Cu to Mo along with normal abundance ratios for the elements from Ba to Pb ...

Stem cell‐based embryo models (SCBEMs) are valuable to study early developmental milestones. Matrigel, a basement membrane matrix, is a critical substrate used in various SCBEM protocols, but its role in driving stem cell lineage commitment is not clearly defined.

Two biomarkers of Alzheimer's disease, amyloid β‐peptide (Aβ) and tau, induce the transformation of U‐251 and other glioblastoma cell lines into neurotoxic A1‐like reactive astrocytes. This transformation is produced by cytokines and is followed by upregulation of PMCA activity and isoform expression, and is closely associated with inflammation, as ...

Viral load and antibody boosting following herpes zoster diagnosis [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Acute varicella zoster virus (VZV) replication in shingles is accompanied by VZV antibody boosting. It is unclear whether persisting virus shedding affects antibody levels.

Introduction Varicella‐zoster virus (VZV), a human alphaherpesvirus 3, elicits both chickenpox and shingles and/or postherpetic neuralgia. A live attenuated vaccine (LAV) and glycoprotein E (gE) subunit vaccine were developed to prevent VZV‐induced ...

Learning Low-Dimensional Embeddings of Audio Shingles for Cross-Version Retrieval of Classical Music
Cross-version music retrieval aims at identifying all versions of a given piece of music using a short query audio fragment. One previous approach, which is particularly suited for Western classical music, is based on a nearest neighbor search using ...

Mitochondria contain two mitoribosome rescue factors, ICT1 and MTRFR (C12orf65). ICT1 also functions as a mitoribosomal protein in mice and humans, and its loss is lethal. Although Mtrfr knockout mice could not be generated, knockout zebrafish lines for ict1 and mtrfr were established.
