Biophysical characterization and ion transport with cell‐based and proteoliposome reconstitution assays of invertebrate K+‐Cl− cotransporters

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The K+‐Cl− cotransporters (KCCs) facilitate the symport of ions across the plasma membrane. They participate in physiological processes including neuronal regulation. Here, we characterized KCCs from Drosophila and Hydra vulgaris. Comparative analyses of transporters provide insights into the mechanism of KCC ion transport, regulation, and evolution ...

Text categorization and similarity analysis: implementation and evaluation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This report covers the implementation of software that aims to identify document versions and se-mantically related documents. This is important due to the increasing amount of digital information.

Augmented Reality in Astrophysics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Augmented Reality consists of merging live images with virtual layers of information. The rapid growth in the popularity of smartphones and tablets over recent years has provided a large base of potential users of Augmented Reality technology, and virtual layers of information can now be attached to a wide variety of physical objects.

Analysis of the regulation of undecaprenyl diphosphate dephosphorylation in Escherichia coli

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
BacA, PgpB, and YbjG phosphatases are involved in undecaprenyl phosphate (C55P) synthesis in Escherichia coli. We analyzed the lipid contents and the gene expression in the gene‐disruption strains. Undecaprenyl diphosphate (C55PP) level increased in the bacA, ybjG double‐disruption strain, but C55P levels were similar in all strains.

Text categorization and similarity analysis: similarity measure, architecture and design [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This research looks at the most appropriate similarity measure to use for a document classification problem. The goal is to find a method that is accurate in finding both semantically and version related documents.

Neural Network Adaptive Control With Long Short‐Term Memory

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this study, we propose a novel adaptive control architecture that provides dramatically better transient response performance compared to conventional adaptive control methods. This is accomplished by the synergistic employment of a traditional adaptive neural network (ANN) controller and a long short‐term memory (LSTM) network.

SMORE: A Cold Data Object Store for SMR Drives (Extended Version) [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
Shingled magnetic recording (SMR) increases the capacity of magnetic hard drives, but it requires that each zone of a disk be written sequentially and erased in bulk. This makes SMR a good fit for workloads dominated by large data objects with limited churn.

RhoA and Rac1 as Mechanotransduction Mediators in Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
Analysing RhoA and Rac1 protein levels in Colorectal cancer (CRC) samples under mechanical strain highlights their potential as diagnostic markers. Monitoring their activity could offer valuable insights into how cancer spreads, paving the way for new approaches to better understand and diagnose colorectal cancer.
