Ship trajectory anomaly detection

This paper compares a number of state-of-the-art anomaly detection methods on real ship trajectories obtained by an Automatic Identification System (AIS) in the Baltic sea. Because most methods need fixed length trajectory representations, the paper also gives some solutions for reducing variable length trajectories to a fixed size.

Ship wake detection by Raman lidar

We carried out a remote study of ship wakes by optical methods. Both Mie and Raman scattering signals and their evolution were simultaneously recorded by gated detector (intensified CCD). The Mie scattering signal was detectable within 1 min after water disturbance by a high-speed boat.

Norway has used spaceborne SAR systems for operational fisheries monitoring since 1998. RADARSAT-1 has been the main source of data. With ENVISAT, there are plans to increase usage of satellite data. First, however, it is important to verify which modes and products are most useful for operational purposes.

GOPCE-Based Approach to Ship Detection

A new approach is proposed for ship detection, based on the generalized optimization of polarimetric contrast enhancement (OPCE). The new approach consists of two steps. For the first step, the OPCE problem will be solved for obtaining optimal polarizations. In this way, the received powers of a sea area are suppressed.
