Effective Ship Domains Considering Ship Encounter Situations and Speeds
Abstract Ship domain is an important concept in assessing navigation situation and planning collision avoidance manoeuvres of a ship. For purpose of improving the precision and adaptability of the ship domains, effective ship domains are proposed for ships with different speeds in a variety of encounter situations in this work.

SASD Modeling Using an ANFIS to Prevent the Collision of MASS in Restricted Areas
This study aimed to present the criteria for the collision avoidance of maritime autonomous surface ships (MASS) in restricted areas. The criteria were presented via ship domains, and a seafarers’ awareness-based ship domain (SASD) that dynamically ...

Collision Risk Index Calculation Based on an Improved Ship Domain Model
The traditional ship collision risk index model based on the distance at the closest point of approach (DCPA) and the time to the closest point of approach (TCPA) is insufficient for estimating ship collision risk and planning collision avoidance ...

Collision avoidance path planning of tourist ship based on DDPG algorithm
ObjectiveSailling saftey is the chief matter for ship navigation, supposing that collision avoidance operation is heavily dependent on the captain's performance or judgement, it would pose potential risks to the ship safety.

Ship collision risk calculation method considering uncertainty of ship position prediction
ObjectivesShip collision is one of the main factors threatening the navigation safety of intelligent ships. A calculation model of ship collision risk should identify potential collision risks in time and provide the basic information for the intelligent

3D domain decomposition for violent wave‐ship interactions [PDF]
SUMMARYA 3D Domain‐Decomposition (DD) strategy has been developed to deal with violent wave‐ship interactions involving water‐on‐deck and slamming occurrence. It couples a linear potential flow seakeeping solver with a Navier–Stokes method. The latter is applied in an inner domain where slamming, water‐on‐deck, and free surface fragmentation may occur,

A real-time ship encounter collision risk detection approach in close-quarters situation
In order to identify ship collision risk for the security of maritime transportation in a close-quarters situation, a novel real-time ship collision risk awareness approach is proposed by developing a novel non-linear velocity obstacle set, QSD-NLVO ...

Multi-ship Encounter Situation Analysis with the Integration of Elliptical Ship Domains and Velocity Obstacles [PDF]
With economic globalization, ships tend to be larger and faster, and the volume of maritime traffic is increasing. Ships sailing in waters with dense traffic flow are easy to fall into complicated multi-ship encounter situations and have a high risk of ...
