Curvature Analysis Method for Ship-Hull Plate Forming
Journal of Ship Production, 2005Ship-hull plate forming by line heating requires hard and skillful labor. Initially, the plate is curved in one direction by rolling. Then, the curved plate is transported to the line-heating workshop to obtain the required shrinkage. However, this two-step forming leads to a series of problems.

Methodical series tests for fuller ship hull forms
Ocean Engineering, 1980Abstract In recent years many fuller ship hull forms have been designed and constructed in various shipbuilding countries, but the data available for the development of the fuller forms are inadequate from the point of view of preliminary ship design.

Application of subdivision surfaces in ship hull form modeling
Computer-Aided Design, 2018Abstract The restriction of tensor-product B-splines to regular control meshes and thus four-sided surfaces is the reason that hull form modeling is still a challenge. This limitation is addressed by subdivision surfaces as they originate from the idea to define B-spline surfaces on irregular control meshes.

Hydrodynamic optimization of ship hull forms in shallow water
Journal of Marine Science and Technology, 2004A computational method for improving hull form in shallow water with respect to wave resistance is presented. The method involves coupling ideas from two distinct research fields: numerical ship hydrodynamics and nonlinear programming techniques. The wave resistance is estimated by means of Morino’s panel method, which is extended to free surface flow ...

A fundamental task of the ship designer is to develop the best possible hull form on the basis of certain known (preliminarily determined) dimensions and integrated hull form characteristics, such as ship’s length L, beam B, draft T and hull form coefficients, slenderness ratio, etc., considering the following fundamental factors/criteria:

Inverse design of ship hull forms for seakeeping
Ocean Engineering, 2009This paper describes a computational procedure to design seakeeping optimized ship hull forms using optimization techniques. The hull form optimization procedure contains four basic elements; a procedure for representing alternative hull form designs, a procedure for predicting seakeeping performance of a given design, a nonlinear direct search ...

Ship Hull Form Optimization Using Artificial Bee Colony Algorithm
SNAME Maritime Convention, 2014In this paper, artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithms are introduced to optimize ship hull forms for reduced drag. Two versions of ABC algorithm are used: one is the basic ABC algorithm, and the other is an improved artificial bee colony (IABC) algorithm.

Multidisciplinary Design Optimization of Ship Hull Forms Using Metamodels
Volume 5: 37th Design Automation Conference, Parts A and B, 2011Multidisciplinary optimization is a highly iterative process that requires a large number of function evaluations to evaluate objective functions and constraints. Metamodels for computationally expensive functions or simulations can be employed in the multidisciplinary optimization instead of the actual solvers resulting in significant computational ...

Fourier NUBS method to express ship hull form
Journal of Marine Science and Technology, 2004This article presents a method of numerical expression to draw ship hull forms. Recent developments in research into ship hull optimization need a method to express ship hull form as precisely as possible with a small number of design parameters. This method is based on a combination of the Fourier–sine series expansion and nonuniform B-spline (NUBS ...

Digitalisation of Small Ships Hull Forms
2004Rad prikazuje postupak digitalizacije forme trupa malih plovnih objekata.
