Statistics of distant shipping noise

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1973
Distant shipping noise is modeled analytically as phase-random line components arriving from a number of independent sources. Three cases are distinguished as (a) all noise arrivals having the same intensity, (b) all having different intensity, and (c) mixtures of (a) and (b).

Classification of ships using underwater radiated noise

COMSIG 88@m_Southern African Conference on Communications and Signal Processing. Proceedings, 1989
Concentrating mainly on the signal processing and physical models behind the algorithms used to classify ships by their underwater-radiated noise, the physical model for cavitation is expanded to include the losses by acoustical radiation and the heat transfer from the vapor to the fluid. The resulting equation allows one to find the characteristics of

Noise Levels on Board Ships

1982
This publication contains the Code on Noise Levels on Board Ships (resolution A.468(XII)), developed to stimulate and promote noise control at a national level within the framework of internationally agreed guidelines, and the Recommendation on methods of measuring noise levels at listening posts (resolution A.343(IX)).

Noise and Vibration Aboard Ship

1984
The quality of shipboard habitability is the integrated effect of all factors determining the behaviour, health and well-being of the seafarer under his specific conditions of service, comprising: 1. Physical environment: exposure to noise and vibration, climatic conditions, illumination, work and leisure considerations; 2.

Automated ship noise measurement system and Enhancing Cetacean Habitat and Observation program ship noise database

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America
An automated ship Underwater Radiated Noise (URN) system has been developed and applied to process measurements of tens of thousands of commercial vessel transits, to produce the Enhancing Cetacean Habitat and Observation (ECHO) Program’s Ship URN database—believed now to be the largest existing ship URN database.

Noise-Reducing Ship Propeller Design

Applied and Computational Engineering
Propellers, as the core of ship propulsion systems, significantly impact vessel speed, fuel efficiency, and overall performance. Achieving a balance between hydrodynamic efficiency, cavitation reduction, and noise minimization remains a significant challenge in traditional propeller design.
