Simulation model of ship-radiated broadband noise
2011 IEEE International Conference on Signal Processing, Communications and Computing (ICSPCC), 2011In this thesis, the statistical characteristics of ship-radiated noise are discussed. Then, a mathematical model of the noise reconstruction is established for given sea depth and straight distance. The model includes the main characteristics of ship-radiated broadband noise: the continuous power spectrum, the line spectrum, the envelope spectrum, the ...

Pseudo Ship-radiated Noise Generation Based on Adversarial Learning
2021 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC Workshops), 2021The demand for acoustic positioning is increasing in various fields, meanwhile, it is very important to disturb acoustic positioning for underwater acoustics countermeasure and ship stealth technology. In this paper, a one-dimensional (ID) deep neural network based on adversarial learning to generate pseudo ship-radiated noises is presented, and a ID ...

Classification of ships using underwater radiated noise
COMSIG 88@m_Southern African Conference on Communications and Signal Processing. Proceedings, 1989Concentrating mainly on the signal processing and physical models behind the algorithms used to classify ships by their underwater-radiated noise, the physical model for cavitation is expanded to include the losses by acoustical radiation and the heat transfer from the vapor to the fluid. The resulting equation allows one to find the characteristics of

Radiated noise characteristics of a modern cargo ship
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2000Extensive measurements were made of the radiated noise of M/V OVERSEAS HARRIETTE, a bulk cargo ship (length 173 m, displacement 25 515 tons) powered by a direct-drive low-speed diesel engine—a design representative of many modern merchant ships. The radiated noise data show high-level tonal frequencies from the ship’s service diesel generator, main ...

Merchant ship-radiated noise source levels.
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2011Ship-radiated noise is the principal source of noise in the 20–300 Hz frequency regime. This presentation provides a review of the issues relating to measuring ship-radiated noise source levels and predicting the source levels from ship parameters.

Periodic Signal Detection in Ship Radiated Noise
Advanced Materials Research, 2014Periodic signal is abundant in ship radiated noise. Its detection is an important step towards active control of ship’s acoustic signature. Based on power spectrum analysis and DEMON analysis, an approach to detect line spectrum and modulation spectrum of ship radiated noise is proposed. Periodogram method is used for power spectrum estimation.

Characteristics Modeling and Simulation of Ship-Radiated Noise
Advanced Materials Research, 2012Since the importance of ship-radiated noise simulation in onshore simulation training and digital sonar development, we establish a mathematical model of ship-radiated noise on the basis of analyzing the causes and characteristics for each of its components, and then apply the model on simulating each signal component in turn.

Radiated noise signature of a ship in maneuvers
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2006Underwater acoustic radiated noise of ships is usually measured for constant course and speed. The measurements are often averaged over the ship’s aspect to yield the radiated noise signature. Consequently, dependence of the radiated noise on the ship’s aspect or maneuvers is generally unknown.

Ship-radiated noise-field characterization
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1997Sonobuoy measurements of merchant ships were processed for mean levels and fluctuation dynamics of the broadband and line components from a large database of ships. Direct path results are reported. The mean levels are compared with various ship source level models.

Geoacoustic inversion of noise radiated by surface ships
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2013Addressed is the issue of determining physical properties of the seabed in shallow water using ambient noise from surface ships of opportunity. Both the amplitude and phase of the source spectrum are unknown. The coherent modal interference structure in the received spectra is sensitive to parameters such as the sound speed in the seabed, the speed of ...
