Automatic detecting system for ship wakes in SAR images

Fifth World Congress on Intelligent Control and Automation (IEEE Cat. No.04EX788), 2004
An automatic system based on localized Radon transform was proposed for detecting ship wakes in SAR images. Ship pixels in SAR image were masked out during pre-process in order to eliminate their own disturbance. Then localized Radon transform windows around ship targets were selected.

A novel ship wake detection method based on white top-hat transformation

IEEE Asia-Pacific Conference on Synthetic Aperture Radar, 2019
This paper proposes a method to improve the contrast between ship wake and background in radar image so as to better detect the ship wake. The method is based on the white top-hat transformation with the structuring element determined by the edge ...

A RPCA and RANSAC Based Algorithm for Ship Wake Detection in SAR Images

International Symposium on Antennas, Propagation and EM Theory, 2018
We present a novel algorithm for ship wake detection in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images with complex background. First, a sparse decomposition is implemented by the robust principal component analysis (RPCA) for the extrapolation of sparse objects ...

Application of periodic structure scattering in Kelvin ship wakes detection

Sustainable Cities and Society, 2019
Abstract The traditional research on SAR imaging mechanism for ship wake mostly takes the wake as a whole for electromagnetic scattering simulation analysis. However, this method cannot obtain the scattering characteristics of wake structure effectively.

Ship and ship wake detection in the ERS SAR imagery using computer-based algorithm

IGARSS'97. 1997 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium Proceedings. Remote Sensing - A Scientific Vision for Sustainable Development, 2002
A computer-based algorithm for ship and ship wake detection in SAR imagery is being developed to monitor ship traffic near Singapore waters. This paper presents current progress made on the algorithm. In particular, issues on the elimination of false targets are addressed. The morphological filter, half Radon (Hough) transform, and other wake criterion

Automatic Ship And Ship Wake Detection In Spaceborne SAR Images From Coastal Regions

International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 'Remote Sensing: Moving Toward the 21st Century'., 2005
Methods for automatic detection of ships and ship wakes in digital SAR images have been developed. Accurate pixel l ocation algorithms together with digital maps are used to distinguish sea from land. Then a Wiener filter and a highpass filter are employed to enhance potential s hip targets. With an appropriate choice of threshold, all visible ships to

Cluster-Based Split-Window Radon Transform Algorithm for Ship Wake Detection

2009 WRI World Congress on Computer Science and Information Engineering, 2009
The purpose of this article is to present a novel algorithm for ship wake detection in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images. The main originality of our work is that splitting the image with small window before conventional Radon transform to make the illumination has stronger consistency in each window and adopting clustering algorithm to select real

Ship wake-detection procedure using conjugate gradient trained artificial neural networks

IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 1991
A method has been developed to reduce large two-dimensional images to significantly smaller feature lists. These feature lists overcome the problem of storing and manipulating large amounts of data. A new artificial neural network using conjugate gradient training methods, operating on sets of feature lists, was successfully trained to determine the ...

Ship wake target detection in C-SAR image based on YOLOv8-OBB

International Conference on Remote Sensing Technology and Image Processing
SAR satellites, unaffected by illumination and weather conditions, enable round-the-clock and all-weather earth observation, offering numerous distinct advantages in monitoring ships and their tracks on the sea surface.
