Characterization of Surface Motion of Submerged Unmanned Ship in Freak Waves Environment
When a ship encounters abnormal waves, the instantaneous impact will cause a drastic change in the wave load, potentially leading to capsizing in serious cases. To investigate the special ship type that can effectively withstand the impact of freak waves,

Experimental studies on seakeeping and maneuverability of ships in adverse weather conditions [PDF]
The introduction of the energy efficiency design index (EEDI), which is applicable for various types of new-built ships after January 1,2013, raised concerns regarding the sufficiency of propulsion power and steering devices to maintain maneuverability ...

Waves in Ship Prices and Investment * [PDF]
Abstract We study the link between investment boom and bust cycles and returns on capital in the dry bulk shipping industry. We show that high current ship earnings are associated with high used ship prices and heightened industry investment in new ships, but forecast low future returns.

Experimental investigation of wave-induced motions of an obliquely moving ship [PDF]
The lateral drift appears due to the effects of wind forces and/or wave drifting forces for a ship sailing in actual sea. The effects of wind forces and / or wave drifting forces in views of lateral drift for ship moving with certain forward speed have ...

Modelling of nonlinear wave-buoy dynamics using constrained variational methods [PDF]
We consider a comprehensive mathematical and numerical strategy to couple water-wave motion with rigid ship dynamics using variational principles. We present a methodology that applies to three-dimensional potential flow water waves and ship dynamics ...

Few‐layered three dimansional conductive graphene foams are promising cytocompatible platforms to transdifferentiate mesenchymal stem cells into Schwann cell‐like phenotypes using electrical and microstructural cues. Applied electrical stimulation conditions resulted in activation of MAPK, neurotrphin and RAS signaling pathways that led to upregulation

Full-scale measurements of vertical motions on ultra large container vessels in Scheldt Estuary [PDF]
From September 2017 to July 2018 the Flemish Pilotage executed nine ship measurements on container ships to and from Antwerp. The measurement results were processed by Flanders Hydraulics Research and Ghent University providing 6 DoF motions of the ...

This review outlines how understanding bone's biology, hierarchical architecture, and mechanical anisotropy informs the design of lattice structures that replicate bone morphology and mechanical behavior. Additive manufacturing enables the fabrication of orthopedic implants that incorporate such structures using a range of engineering materials ...

Numerical Study on the Motion and Wave Loads of an Uncrewed Surface Vehicle Catamaran at Low Speed in Sea Waves [PDF]
Modern ship designs are being developed for various purposes in uncrewed operation. In particular, low-speed uncrewed surface vehicle (USV) catamarans have been applied as rescued boats in recent years.
