A study on PID controlled self-propulsion and turning simulations based on the URANS CFD free running approach

open access: yesInternational Journal of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, 2023
In this study, the proportional, integral, and differential control constants for a self-propulsion point search were investigated using free running Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations. The experimental data obtained using a 1/100 scale model

Rapid increase in Asian bottles in the South Atlantic Ocean indicates major debris inputs from ships

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, 2019
Significance Many oceanic islands suffer high levels of stranded debris, particularly those near subtropical gyres where floating debris accumulates. During the last 3 decades, plastic drink bottles have shown the fastest growth rate of all debris types ...

Ships Observing Marine Climate: a catalogue of the VOS participating in the VSOP-NA [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
Our present knowledge of the marine climate, as represented by data sets such as COADS (Woodruff et al., 1987), is based on meteorological observations from the Voluntary Observing Ships (VOS).

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.
