Shock isolation using switchable stiffness
This study investigates a novel stiffness control strategy applied to the problem of shock isolation. This is based on the principle that the stiffness and mass are the principal physical properties that control the passive system shock response.

A mechanically programmable hydrogel for tissue engineering is developed by modulating the molecular threading density of poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate‐β‐cyclodextrin (PEGDA‐β‐CD) polyrotaxane and combining it with β‐CD‐modified gelatin. The polyrotaxane‐guided transition from disordered pores to laminar microstructures enables precise tuning ...

Melanin content directly controls fungal spore mechanical properties, with pigmented spores achieving rupture forces two orders of magnitude higher than hyaline spores. Environmental stress drives this quantity‐quality tradeoff; stressed species invest energy in melanin‐reinforced, mechanically superior thick‐walled, super‐hydrophobic spores, while ...

The influences of worn shock absorber on ABS braking performance on rough road
In this study, the influence of the deteriorations occurring in damping capacity of the shock absorber on the braking performance of Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) was experimentally investigated. For this, ABS tests were conducted on the rough road, which has ?-split and slippery surface by using worn and new shock absorbers.

A gas‐fed, zero‐gap, PEM CO2 electrolyzer is realized by incorporating PDDA+ ions onto the carbonaceous Co/N‐C electrocatalyst, with gaseous H2 and CO2 fed into the anode and cathode, respectively. Operating without an aqueous electrolyte, the system sustains a peak FECO of 65.1% at 100 mA cm−2. ABSTRACT Electrochemical carbon dioxide reduction (ECO2R)

Outer characteristic simulation and performance analysis of variable shock absorber [PDF]
In this study, a variable shock absorber (VSA) for semi-active suspension is developed, the structure and operation principle of the VSA is illustrated. Based on the theory of hydraulics and elasticity, the ways of calculating for the embranchment flow rate and the throttle pressure difference on the series-parallel complex pipe line (SPCPL) are ...

Cell therapies typically rely on cold‐chain logistics and cryopreservation, limiting access and compromising cell quality. Here, a dual‐chamber device separates an oxygen‐supplying chamber from a hyaluronic acid cargo chamber, sustaining oxygen delivery for over 70 h and enabling ambient‐temperature shipment.
