Simple device produces accelerometer calibration pulse [PDF]

open access: yes, 1965
Shock-impulse exciter produces a remote checkout of the amplitude calibration and frequency response of a piezoelectric vibration accelerometer. The exciter employs a bimetal spring to apply a mechanical acceleration pulse of a known amplitude and ...

Implementation of Drug‐Induced Rhabdomyolysis and Acute Kidney Injury in Microphysiological System

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A modular Muscle–Kidney proximal tubule‐on‐a‐chip integrates 3D skeletal muscle and renal proximal tubule tissues to model drug‐induced rhabdomyolysis and acute kidney injury. The coculture system enables dynamic tissue interaction, functional contraction monitoring, and quantification of nephrotoxicity, revealing drug side effect‐induced metabolic ...

Spectrally Tunable 2D Material‐Based Infrared Photodetectors for Intelligent Optoelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Intelligent optoelectronics through spectral engineering of 2D material‐based infrared photodetectors. Abstract The evolution of intelligent optoelectronic systems is driven by artificial intelligence (AI). However, their practical realization hinges on the ability to dynamically capture and process optical signals across a broad infrared (IR) spectrum.

Carrier field shock formation of long wavelength femtosecond pulses in dispersive media

open access: yes, 2015
We numerically demonstrate the formation of carrier field shocks in various dispersive media for a wide variety of input conditions using two different electric field propagation models.

Trap‐Modified Inverted Organic Photodetectors via Layer‐by‐Layer Processing with Poly(N‐vinylcarbazole) Additives

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Trap state engineering in inverted organic photodetectors (OPDs) is achieved via combined layer‐by‐layer (LbL) processing and poly(N‐vinylcarbazole) (PVK) incorporation. LbL reduces the trap density while PVK additives gradually shift trap states from shallow band‐edge to deep mid‐gap levels, tailoring the energy distribution.

Spatiotemporal Plasma–Mediated Laser Fabrication of Ultrahigh‐Aspect‐Ratio Nanochannel Arrays for Vertical Perovskite Nanowire Semiconductor Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A spatiotemporal plasma–mediated laser processing approach is developed to fabricate ultrahigh–aspect ratio nanochannel arrays and corresponding perovskite nanowire arrays within transparent materials for optoelectronics devices. The laser‐fabricated nanochannels serve as templates for controlled perovskite infiltration and crystallization, enabling ...

Probing shock dynamics inside micro-wire targets after high-intensity laser irradiation using small angle x-ray scattering of a free-electron laser

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2023
In this paper, we present an experiment that explores the plasma dynamics of a $7\,\mu\textrm{m}$ diameter carbon wire after being irradiated with a near-relativistic-intensity short pulse laser.

Electro‐Active Polymer Actuated Microfiltration Membranes: Design, Performance, and Particle Dynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The concept of foulant particle manipulation and detachment from active microfiltration membranes via voltage‐driven vibrations is introduced. Actuator components are initially integrated onto the filtration membranes using an airbrush spray printing technique.

Pulse analysis of acoustic emission signals [PDF]

open access: yes
A method for the signature analysis of pulses in the frequency domain and the time domain is presented. Fourier spectrum, Fourier transfer function, shock spectrum and shock spectrum ratio were examined in the frequency domain analysis and pulse shape ...
