Burgers Turbulence

open access: yes, 2007
The last decades witnessed a renewal of interest in the Burgers equation. Much activities focused on extensions of the original one-dimensional pressureless model introduced in the thirties by the Dutch scientist J.M.

Universal Gripper for Industrial Manipulation With Enhanced Rigid Mechanics and Self‐Adaptable Fingers

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
An enhanced universal gripper combining rigid mechanics with self‐adaptable fingers is presented for industrial automation. The novel six‐bar linkage with integrated compliant pad eliminates mechanical interference while enabling passive shape adaptation.

Local characteristic algorithms for relativistic hydrodynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Numerical schemes for the general relativistic hydrodynamic equations are discussed. The use of conservative algorithms based upon the characteristic structure of those equations, developed during the last decade building on ideas first applied in ...

Persistently Increased Expression of PKMzeta and Unbiased Gene Expression Profiles Identify Hippocampal Molecular Traces of a Long‐Term Active Place Avoidance Memory and “Shadow” Proteins

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Protein complexes like KIBRA‐PKMζ are crucial for maintaining memories, forming month‐long protein traces in memory‐tagged neurons, but conventional RNA‐seq analysis fails to detect their transcript changes, leaving memory molecules undetected in the shadows of abundantly‐expressed genes.

Gauge drivers for the generalized harmonic Einstein equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The generalized harmonic representation of Einstein's equations is manifestly hyperbolic for a large class of gauge conditions. Unfortunately most of the useful gauges developed over the past several decades by the numerical relativity community are ...

Rapid Proteome‐Wide Discovery of Protein–Protein Interactions With ppIRIS

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ppIRIS is a lightweight deep learning framework for proteome‐wide protein–protein interaction prediction directly from sequence. By fusing evolutionary and structural embeddings with a regularized Siamese architecture, ppIRIS achieves state‐of‐the‐art accuracy across species, enables minute‐scale screening, and reveals biologically validated bacterial ...

A Worm‐Inspired Origami Robot with Multimodal Locomotion for Adaptive Mobility in Complex Pipeline Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An origami worm‐inspired robot achieves multimodal locomotion in confined pipelines through mechatronic integration that embeds actuation, control, and communication within each origami module. Large, reversible configuration and dimensional changes enable 25 gaits synthesized by a unified framework across peristaltic, inchworm, and wheel‐rolling modes

Deciphering Intricacies in Directional CO2 Conversion From Electrolysis to CO2 Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
This review will delve into the inherent connections and distinctions of CO2‐directed conversion in ECO2RR and CO2 batteries, in terms of product types, catalyst selection, catalytic mechanisms, and electrochemical performances, while proposing a benchmarking framework for the evaluation of CO2 batteries and innovative CO2 battery configurations for ...

Beyond the Ban—Shedding Light on Smallholders' Price Vulnerability in Indonesia's Palm Oil Industry

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The Indonesian government imposed a palm oil export ban in April 2022 to address rising cooking oil prices. This study explores oil palm smallholders' vulnerability to the policy using descriptive statistics, Lasso, and post‐Lasso OLS regressions.

Universality of Velocity Gradients in Forced Burgers Turbulence

open access: yes, 2001
It is demonstrated that Burgers turbulence subject to large-scale white-noise-in-time random forcing has a universal power-law tail with exponent -7/2 in the probability density function of negative velocity gradients, as predicted by E, Khanin, Mazel ...
