Short Range Radar System for Automotive Applications
2007The number of cars in Europe is increasing, leading to a higher traffic density. The average age of drivers is increasing consistent with demographics of the total European population. Every second accident involving vehicles is related to traffic situations in which faster reaction of the driver could have mitigate crash consequences.

Microwave absorber for 24GHz short range automotive radar system
2012 IEEE Vehicle Power and Propulsion Conference, 2012An electromagnetic wave absorber for 24GHz short range automotive radar was suggested. Electromagnetic wave absorbers were prepared by dispersing graphite or/and carbon micro coil (CMC) in silicone rubber matrix. It was found that microwave absorber manufactured 18.5wt% of graphite and 1.5wt% of CMC attenuated the wave by 21.5dB, which corresponds to ...

Development of Ultra-Wideband Short-Range Impulse Radar System for Vehicular Applications
IEICE Transactions on Electronics, 2005This paper introduces a state-of-art on an ultra-wideband (UWB) technology in intelligent transport systems (ITS). To examine the detection performance of a UWB short-range radar for vehicular applications, we developed a 26-GHz band short-range UWB radar system with an embedded compact MMIC-based RF module.

Antenna radiation pattern effects on a short-range vibration-detection radar system
2014 International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation Conference Proceedings, 2014This paper presents a 5.8 GHz Doppler noncontact vibration-detection radar system with 2×2 patch array antennas and single patch antennas. Two different types of antennas are used on both transmitter (Tx) and receiver (Rx) sides, alternately. An actuator is connected with a 16 cm × 14 cm metal plate and generates a 1 Hz sinusoidal movement with 1 mm ...

Small and Short-Range Radar Systems [Book Review]
IEEE Antennas and Propagation Magazine, 2016The initial pages of this book contain a series of color pictures. The average page contains multiple pictures or tables, compressing the text to a minimum and rendering the book pleasant to read. The first flip through the pages will captivate the readers and compel them to regard the short text under an interesting image, even though this may happen ...

On the Sensitivity Degradation Caused by Short-Range Leakage in FMCW Radar Systems
2015Frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar systems suffer from permanent leakage due to their continuous operation. Especially in integrated circuits this leads to the well known issue of on-chip leakage due to limited isolation between transmit and receive circuitry.

A monostatic antenna-reflector system for ultra-short-range radar applications
2013 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium (APSURSI), 2013In this contribution, a novel antenna-reflector system is introduced, which consists of a planar waveguide orthomode transducer, a lens-horn antenna and a transpolarizing reflector. The proposed antenna system eliminates short-range clutter effects like root point reflections and antenna ringing effectively.

240-GHz System on Chip FMCW Radar for Short Range Applications
2020 IEEE MTT-S International Conference on Microwaves for Intelligent Mobility (ICMIM), 2020GHz system on chip (SoC) frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) radar for short range applications is presented in this paper. The SoC is attached to a carrier printed circuit board (PCB) which in turn is mounted on a radio frequency (RF) frontend using an interposer. Through the use of on-chip antennas, a small form factor is achieved for the SoC,

Signal peculiarities of autodyne systems of short-range radar at target vibrations
2014 20th International Conference on Microwaves, Radar and Wireless Communications (MIKON), 2014Research results on signal and noise characteristics of autodyne microwave vibration sensors are discussed for external feedback weak and strong. Also, questions are considered about selection of working points and ways of autodyne signal identification.

Wideband monopulse antenna system for short range CW RADAR application
2017 IEEE Asia Pacific Microwave Conference (APMC), 2017A wideband antenna system is used to demonstrate a frequency modulated continuous wave(FMCW) RADAR in mono pulse configuration in order to extract angle of arrival(AOA) along with the range information. A single element cavity backed wideband coplanar microstrip antenna is used as a transmitter with antenna peak gain being 7.6 dBi whereas two such ...
