Physiology of short-term verbal memory [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
These studies document a series of brain events accompanying short-term memory functions. For auditory verbal material the sequence involves at least two different sites within auditory cortex subserving sensory and cognitive processes of memorization.

Electric Pulse Regulated MXene Based Nanozymes for Integrative Bioelectricity Immuno‐Cancer Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
MXenzyme‐mediated bioelectricity cancer therapy (MXenzyme‐BECT) enhances cancer cell death through irreversible depolarization, ion channel disruption, ROS generation, and immunogenic cell death. Computational simulations reveal the electrical mechanisms by which MXenzyme acts on single cells and support to predict treatment parameters. Next‐generation

Transcription: A Mechanism for Short-Term Memory [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Biology, 2008
Yeast growing for a considerable time in glucose 'remember' a previous exposure to galactose, the inducer of its galactose-utilization (GAL) genes. This memory is conveyed by a cytoplasmically transmitted galactokinase working as a signal transducer.

Tunable Tactile Synapses Enabled by Erasable Doping in Iongel‐Gated Nanotube Network Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Artificial tactile synaptic sensors are realized by an iongel‐gated single‐walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) transistor with reversible doping characteristics. The device senses and memorizes tactile stimuli and exhibits gate bias‐dependent excitatory or inhibitory synaptic behavior.

Diversity of clustered protocadherin-α genes in neuronal identity and its role in short-term specific associative memory formation

open access: yesScientific Reports
Clustered protocadherins (cPcdh) are cell adhesion molecules with 58 isoforms, essential for neural circuit formation and higher cognitive functions. This study investigated the impact of reduced cPcdh-α diversity on cognitive function using mutant mice.

Self‐organized Criticality in Neuromorphic Nanowire Networks With Tunable and Local Dynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Memristive nanowire networks (NWNs) are shown to be electrically tunable to a critical state where specific local dynamics evaluated by multiterminal characterization are exploited as feature selection in nonlinear transformation (NLT) tasks.
