Short term prediction of sales in supermarkets

Proceedings of ICNN'95 - International Conference on Neural Networks, 2002
In this paper artificial neural networks are applied to a short term forecast of the sale of articles in supermarkets. The times series of sales, prices and advertising campaigns are modelled to fit into feedforward multilayer perceptron networks that are trained by the backpropagation algorithm.

Short term hospital occupancy prediction

Health Care Management Science, 2006
Inpatient census, or occupancy, is a primary driver of resource use in hospitals. Fluctuations in occupancy complicate decisions related to staffing, bed management, ambulance diversions, and may ultimately impact both quality of patient care and nursing job satisfaction.

Short-Term Prediction of Passenger Demand in Multi-Zone Level: Temporal Convolutional Neural Network With Multi-Task Learning

IEEE transactions on intelligent transportation systems (Print), 2020
Accurate short-term passenger demand prediction contributes to the coordination of traffic supply and demand. This paper proposes an end-to-end multi-task learning temporal convolutional neural network (MTL-TCNN) to predict the short-term passenger ...

Short-term Power Prediction using ANN

2021 IEEE International Conference on Signal and Image Processing Applications (ICSIPA), 2021
An accurate prediction of solar energy becomes imperative for the planning and optimization of solar-based energy systems. The present research involves the implementation of Artificial Neural Network (ANN) models employing a cascade forward backpropagation algorithm for predicting short-term PV power using meteorological parameters based on distinct ...

Short-Term Tide Prediction

2007
Ever since the first fishermen ventured into the sea, tides have been the subject of intense human observation. As a result, computational models and 'tide predicting machines', mechanical computers for predicting tides have been developed over 100 years ago.

Short-term prediction of building energy consumption employing an improved extreme gradient boosting model: A case study of an intake tower

, 2020
Accurate prediction of building energy consumption is crucial for building energy management. However, the building energy consumption is affected by many factors and shows obvious nonlinear characteristics in the time series, which is difficult to ...

The Short-term User Modeling for Predictive Applications

Journal on Data Semantics, 2018
One of the important purposes of data mining on the web is to reveal hidden characteristics of users including their behavior. These characteristics are often used to analyze previous user actions, his/her preferences, and also to predict the future behavior.

A probabilistic approach for short-term prediction of wind gust speed using ensemble learning

, 2020
Strong winds could cause train derailment and truck rollover which may result in service interruption, serious injury, and even loss of life. The wind-induced accident is highly related to the maximum value of short-term wind speed, thus highlighting the
