Chatter identification in turning process based on vibration analysis using Hilbert-Huang transform

open access: yesJournal of Mechanical Engineering and Sciences, 2020
In machining process, the increasing cutting depth is aimed to accelerate machining operations in a short time. However, the increasing cutting depth can cause chatter vibration at any time.

Controlling Grain Growth in Powder Bed Fusion of Yttria‐Stabilized Zirconia Using Femtosecond Lasers: Challenges and Methodological Insights

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Binder‐free laser powder bed fusion of 8YSZ with a femtosecond laser is used to map process windows linking scan strategy, heat accumulation, and grain growth. Time‐resolved thermography and simulations reveal thermal regimes that enable continuous, vitrified, and fine‐grained 8YSZ surface layers without absorptive additives and demonstrate ...

Super-resolution from short-time Fourier transform measurements [PDF]

open access: yes2014 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2014
While spike trains are obviously not band-limited, the theory of super-resolution tells us that perfect recovery of unknown spike locations and weights from low-pass Fourier transform measurements is possible provided that the minimum spacing, $Δ$, between spikes is not too small.

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Wearable Smart Patches on Sustainable Chitosan With Reversible Microbial Growth‐Inhibitory Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Chitosan, a polysaccharide upcycled from biowaste, has long promised sustainable, biocompatible, and antimicrobial films and devices, an appeal reinforced by its recent regulatory recognition, with several chitosan‐based antibacterial dressings gaining clearance through the Food and Drug Administration's 510(k) pathway.

Radar Emitter Recognition Based on the Energy Cumulant of Short Time Fourier Transform and Reinforced Deep Belief Network

open access: yesSensors, 2018
To cope with the complex electromagnetic environment and varied signal styles, a novel method based on the energy cumulant of short time Fourier transform and reinforced deep belief network is proposed to gain a higher correct recognition rate for radar ...

Robust Electrocaloric Performance Enabled by Highly‐Polar Frustrated Nanodomains in NaNbO3‐Based Ferrodistortive Relaxor

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
P4bm framework in NaNbO3‐Ba(Ti, Hf)O3 ferrodistortive relaxor entails short‐range and highly‐polar ferrodistortive orders. The abundant highly‐polar orders facilitate to increase entropy change, and robust octahedral oxygen tilt enables to impede thermal perturbations.

An Adaptive Resolution Computationally Efficient Short‐Time Fourier Transform [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Electrical and Computer Engineering, 2008
The short‐time Fourier transform (STFT) is a classical tool, used for characterizing the time varying signals. The limitation of the STFT is its fixed time‐frequency resolution. Thus, an enhanced version of the STFT, which is based on the cross‐level sampling, is devised.
