The Influence of Short Tracks on the Biological Effectiveness of Radiations
Radiation Protection Dosimetry, 1995The commonly used parameters of radiation quality, LET and linear energy, exhibit their shortcomings when ranges of charged particles are comparable with dimensions of subcellular structures. An interpretation of this fact is given and a new parameter, the linear energy deposit, is introduced.

Neuromuscular Activation During Short-Track Speed Skating in Young Athletes
International Journal of Sports Physiology and Performance, 2016Purpose:To investigate differences in muscle activation of both legs between the straight and the curve and changes in muscle activity during a 1000-m time trial (TT) and their relationship to the change in skating velocity in 9 young short-track speed skaters.

Intraday Variation of Ankle Dorsiflexion in Short-Track Speed Skaters
International Journal of Sports Physiology and PerformancePurpose: Optimal ankle dorsiflexion range of motion plays a vital role in attaining the essential crouched posture necessary for excelling in speed skating. The purpose of this study was to determine how the ankle dorsiflexion angle evolves throughout a day of training and to identify the factors that influence this angle.

Effect of Race Distance on Muscle Oxygenation in Short-Track Speed Skating
Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, 2013Previous work identified an asymmetry in tissue desaturation changes in the left and right quadriceps muscles during on-ice skating at maximal speed in males. The effect of changing race distance on the magnitude of desaturation or leg asymmetry is unknown.Six elite male skaters (age = 23 ± 1.8 yr, height = 1.8 ± 0.1 m, mass = 80.1 ± 5.7 kg, midthigh ...

Injuries in short track asphalt racing.
American family physician, 1978Stock car racing is a popular activity. Although spectators are seldom injured, drivers at short asphalt tracks often sustain minor injuries. The neck and the knee are the most commonly injured areas. Rigid safety requirements are essential and help to prevent serious injuries.

Asymmetry of Quadriceps Muscle Oxygenation during Elite Short-Track Speed Skating
Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, 2012It has been suggested that, because of the low sitting position in short-track speed skating, muscle blood flow is restricted, leading to decreases in tissue oxygenation. Therefore, wearable wireless-enabled near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) technology was used to monitor changes in quadriceps muscle blood volume and oxygenation during a 500-m race ...

[A short track to relieve pediatric emergency department overload].
Archives de pediatrie : organe officiel de la Societe francaise de pediatrie, 2015The number of emergency pediatric consultations continues to rise in France. The pediatric emergency department (PED) introduced relocated consultations (RlCs) for unwarranted visits to relieve the overload of emergency medical consultations. The objective of this study was to assess the advantages of implementing these RlCs.A single-center prospective
