Multi‐LiDAR Observations of Coastal Atmospheric Duct Evolution in Hampton Roads

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 12, 28 June 2026.
Abstract To better understand the influence of atmospheric ducts on radio frequency (RF) operations, continuous high‐resolution observations of temperature and water vapor are essential. Hampton University's (HU) 48‐inch Raman‐Mie LiDAR provides such measurements through rotational and vibrational Raman techniques, enabling detailed monitoring of ...

Strong Sensitivity of Simulated Biomass Burning Aerosol Transport and Radiative Effects Over the South Atlantic to Carbonaceous Aerosol Aging and Particle Density

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 11, 16 June 2026.
Abstract Biomass burning aerosol (BBA) impacts climate through aerosol‐cloud‐radiation interactions, but models disagree on the sign and magnitude of BBA radiative effects. We quantify the sensitivity of BBA radiative effects and transport to three BBA‐relevant processes and properties: parameterized oxidative aging of organic aerosol (OA), a combined ...

Intelligent Acousto‐Electrical Metamaterials (IAM) for Sound Source Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 36, 26 June 2026.
Our proposed metamaterial concept enables sound source detection using a single material, in contrast to conventional arrays that require dozens or even hundreds of transducers. We show that the coupled acoustic–vibrational–electrical responses in piezoelectric metamaterials give rise to topology‐governed charge transport, producing distinct voltage ...

A Scalable Perovskite Platform With Multi‐State Photoresponsivity for In‐Sensor Saliency Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 32, 8 June 2026.
A scalable in‐sensor computing platform (32 × 32 array) with ultra‐low variability is developed by incorporating ferroelectric copolymers into halide perovskite thin films. These devices achieve 1000 programmable photoresponsivity states and high thermal reliability.
