Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Short Communication - Aquatic Oil Pollution Impact Indicators

open access: yesJournal of Applied Sciences and Environmental Management, 2005
Aquatic oil pollution impact indicators such as oil-grease, low dissolved oxygen concentration, increased biochemical oxygen demand, increased water temperature and acidity of the water are associated with aquatic habitat degradation, reduced ...

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Framing research in Food Science: the state of the art on research article, short communication and poster presentation titles

open access: yesRevista de Lenguas para Fines Específicos, 2013
Titles are the first point of contact with readers and are encoded to provide concise information on the paper’s contents. Data from available surveys show that the structural construction conforms to four different layouts, namely nominal, compound ...

Short communication: Soil characteristics in Attock district

open access: yesSoil & Environment, 2019
Soil testing for physical and chemical characteristics of a soil is key in assessment of a soil fertility that leads to productivity of a soil. A total of 11231 soil samples from six tehsils of Attock district were collected during five years (2012-17 ...

Short Communication: Monitoring rockfalls with the Raspberry Shake [PDF]

open access: yesEarth Surface Dynamics, 2018
We evaluate the performance of the low-cost seismic sensor Raspberry Shake to identify and monitor rockfall activity in alpine environments. The test area is a slope adjacent to the Great Aletsch Glacier in the Swiss Alps, i.e.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Validity of the fractional Leibniz rule on a coarse-grained medium yields a modified fractional chain rule

open access: yes, 2014
In this short communication, we show that the validity of the Leibniz rule for a fractional derivative on a coarse-grained medium brings about a modified chain rule, in agreement with alternative versions of fractional calculus. We compare our results to

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.
