Wirelessly Powered Communication Networks With Short Packets [PDF]
IEEE Transactions on Communications, 2017 Wirelessly powered communications will entail short packets due to naturally small payloads, low-latency requirements and/or insufficient energy resources to support longer transmissions. In this paper, a wirelessly powered communication system is investigated where an energy harvesting transmitter, charged by one or more power beacons via wireless ...

Average Age of Information Penalty of Short-Packet Communications with Packet Management
ICC 2023 - IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2023 In this paper, we analyze the non-linear age of information (AoI) performance in a point-to-point short packet communication system, where a transmitter generates packets based on status updates and transmits the packets to a receiver. Specifically, we investigate three packet management strategies, namely, the non-preemption with no buffer strategy ...

Energy efficient short‐packet‐communication in UAV‐assisted cognitive network
IET Communications, 2023 This paper studies unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)‐assisted cognitive network, where the UAV can improve the communication quality of edge users. Short packet communication (SPC) is widely used due to its low delay transmission characteristic.

Ultrareliable Short-Packet Communications With Wireless Energy Transfer [PDF]
IEEE Signal Processing Letters, 2017 We analyze and optimize a wireless system with energy transfer in the downlink and information transfer in the uplink, under quasi-static Nakagami-m fading. We consider ultrareliable communication scenarios representative of the fifth generation of wireless systems, with strict error and latency requirements.
