Shoshonites in Southern Tibet Record Late Jurassic Rifting of a Tethyan Intraoceanic Island Arc [PDF]
Detailed field mapping combined with a petrologic and geochemical investigation of the Zedong terrane within the Yarlung Tsangpo suture zone provides insights to the evolution of now mostly subducted portions of Tethys during the Late Jurassic. The terrane is dominated by volcanic rocks of shoshonitic affinity, which were erupted in a submarine oceanic

LATE DEVONIAN VERKHNEURALSK VOLCANIC-PLUTONIC ASSOCIATION (EAST MAGNITOGORSK PALEOISLAND ARC, SOUTH URALS): AGE, PETROLOGY, GEOCHEMISTRY, ORE POTENTIAL AND GEODYNAMIC SETTING [PDF]
The geology and petrogeochemical features of the Verkhneuralsk volcanic-plutonic association in the South Urals are characterized. The relevance of the work is determined by necessary analysis of magmatic evolution of the region to clarify ideas on ...

Tertiary magmatism within the Republic of Macedonia: a review [PDF]
Widespread Tertiary magmatism of both orogenic and within-plate signatures developed within the Macedonian part of the Dinarides. Orogenic magmatites (predominantly volcanic rocks) are present in 5 areas (from east to west): Osogovo-Besna Kobila ...

Until now, there is a problem of the stratigraphic position and the serial petrogenetic affiliation of the Dzhusinsky volcanic complex and the correlation of the section of the Dzhusa-Dombarovka pyrite-palevolcanic belt of the East Magnitogorsk zone (EMZ)

Abstract The origin of a binary‐mixing of DM and EM1 sources for the Cenozoic intraplate volcanism in eastern Northeast China is yet unclear. Seismic attenuation imaging is a tool that can shed light on this question. Here we present the first map of teleseismic P‐wave attenuation across Northeast China.

Abstract One of the main limitations in simulating subsolidus metasomatism is the decoupling between thermomechanical models and chemical/thermodynamic modeling. This decoupling amplifies the uncertainty associated with mass transport. Here, we introduce a fluid‐rock chemical‐thermomechanical interaction scheme, which integrates thermodynamic modeling (

Acid volcanism of various geotectonic situations (on the example of orogenic volcanic belts in Asia)
Acid volcanism (rocks with silica more than 64 wt%) is the most widely represented in the orogenic volcanic belts (continental margin and kollisional) and ensialic island arcs on the continental stage in their development.

Abstract The Zagros orogen records the closure of the Neotethys Ocean by northward subduction of the oceanic slab beneath the Iranian plate. Northwestern Iran has undergone episodic volcanism since the Eocene, due to a shift of tectonic regimes from subduction to collision and post‐collisional extension, although the dynamics responsible for such ...

The article demonstrates that brine was central for the supply of Ca and B to the studied saline lake. The ion transport occurred probably by thermal springs, while contributions from surface waters cannot be excluded. However, the saturation and syndepositional precipitation of Ca borates were initiated by an arid climate through evaporation, while ...
