To investigate the collapse mechanisms of diversion tunnels during construction under seismic loading, a coupled continuum‐discrete numerical simulation method was employed. Before seismic excitation, the initial support system was generally stable, with minor damage observed at the arch foot and arch crown (damage coefficient <0.033).

Experimental Study on Basic Mechanical Properties of Steel Fiber-Reinforced Siliceous Wet Shotcrete
In order to solve the problem of low strength and easy cracking of shotcrete in permanent support of tunnel single shell lining, the effects of steel fiber-reinforced siliceous on mechanical properties of wet shotcrete were investigated by the tests of ...

Ultrasonic sounding and monitoring of the excavation damaged zone in relation with drift support [PDF]
International audienceUnder high in situ stresses, the excavation of underground openings generally causes the creation of a disturbed (EdZ: Excavation disturbed Zone) and/or damaged (EDZ: Excavation Damaged Zone) zone, resulting from the initiation and ...

Quantification of the effects of thin spray-on liner application on shotcrete tensile strength [PDF]
In underground and surface excavations, rock mass instability often occurs, and one method of remedying this is to spray support liners onto the unstable rock surfaces.

Study on creep performance of shotcrete lining for tunnels
Creep, as a long-term deformation characteristic of shotcrete, significantly influences the load-bearing performance and durability of tunnel support structures. This study conducted creep tests on shotcrete under varying stress levels.

Damage of shotcrete under freeze-thaw loading
The freeze-thaw durability of shotcrete can be improved by adding an air-entraining agent in cold areas. The main focus of this paper is to investigate the changes in the internal pore structure of C25 ordinary shotcrete and shotcrete mixed with a RM-YQ

How tunnel boundary irregularities can influence the stresses in a shotcrete lining [PDF]
The shape of a tunnel boundary excavated by drill & blast in fractured rock masses is influenced by geological conditions and blasting operations. The overbreaks, apart from influencing the construction times and costs, also have an important influence ...
