Pre‐industrial Use of Bauxite by Late Gothic Goldsmith Masters: Analytical Evidence and Experimental Study

open access: yesChemPlusChem, EarlyView.
First analytical evidence and replication of yet undescribed substantial change in gilding technology in the early modern period ‐ the replacement of imported red clay (bole) with locally available bauxite. Proof of its source ‐ Croatian Minjera, according to a unique find of mineral diaspore.

Is suture cerclage fixation a valid treatment for intraoperative nondisplaced calcar fractures in reverse total shoulder arthroplasties?

open access: yesJSES International, 2021
Background: Implantation rates of reverse total shoulder arthroplasties continue to grow worldwide. Despite satisfying results, a distinct number of complications persist.

ROTATOR CUFF REPAIR IN SHOULDER ARTHROPLASTY WITH REVERSE SHOULDER ARTHROPLASTY [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of IMAB
This communication aims to present that shoulder arthroplasty has established itself as a treatment method for proximal humerus fractures. The use in clinical practice of the inverted type of shoulder arthroplasty, combined with rotator cuff repair, has ...

UiO‐Based Mixed Matrix Membranes for Efficient CO2 Separations

open access: yesChemPlusChem, EarlyView.
Pebax‐based mixed matrix membrane incorporating UiO‐type metal‐organic frameworks are developed for CO2 separations. Defect engineering and optimized dispersion enhanced CO2 sorption and transport pathways, significantly improving permeability while maintaining high selectivity over CH4 and H2.

Increasing incidences and changes in treatment trends of clavicle fractures in adults during 2 decades in Denmark: a nationwide study on data from the Danish National Patient Registry

open access: yesActa Orthopaedica
Background and purpose: Clavicle fractures are common shoulder injuries, but treatment strategies are debated. While a non-surgical approach has been preferred historically, recent studies suggest surgical intervention may reduce non-union rates and ...

The FeK$α$ Compton shoulder in accreting Supermassive Black Holes [PDF]

open access: yes
Reprocessed X-ray radiation from active galactic nuclei (AGN) carries important information about the properties of the circumnuclear material around the black hole. The X-ray photons travel from the very center of the system and interact with that material often producing strong emission lines. The FeK$\alpha$ Compton shoulder is formed by fluorescent

Solid‐State Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Investigations of the Lithium‐ and Sodium‐Storage Mechanisms of Pyrolytic Phosphorus‐Carbon Composites

open access: yesChemSusChem, EarlyView.
Phosphorus–carbon composites as battery electrode materials benefit from the high capacity of phosphorus and the stability of carbon. Understanding the ion‐storage mechanisms in these materials is crucial for their development. An analysis of the lithiation and sodiation mechanisms of a phosphorus–carbon composite is undertaken here utilizing ex situ ...

Non‐Markovian Quantum Kinetic Simulations of Uniform Dense Plasmas: Mitigating the Aliasing Problem

open access: yesContributions to Plasma Physics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Dense quantum plasmas out of equilibrium are successfully modeled using quantum kinetic equations, such as the quantum Boltzmann, Landau, or Balescu–Lenard equation. However, these equations do not properly take into account correlation effects, which require the use of generalized non‐Markovian kinetic equations.
