U-Pb SHRIMP dating of basement rocks of the Iriri-Xingu domain, Central Amazonian province, Amazonian craton, Brazil

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Geology, 2019
The Iriri-Xingu domain, located in the central part of the Amazonian craton, consists of extensive occurrences of Paleoproterozoic volcanic rocks and granites with published ages of ca.

Geochronological systematics of the Huayna Potosí, Zongo and Taquesi plutons, Cordillera Real of Bolivia, by the K/Ar, Rb/Sr and U/Pb methods

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Geology
The Huayna Potosi, Zongo and Taquesi are Triassic plutons located at the core of the Real Cordillera of Bolivia. In this paper, several Rb-Sr and K-Ar ages obtained in the past at the São Paulo Geochronology Laboratory, yet unpublished, will be presented,

Zircon U-Pb geochronology of the Chinese continental crust: a preliminary analysis of the Elsevier science database

open access: yesBig Earth Data, 2019
The amount of zircon U-Pb geochronological data for China has grown rapidly in recent years. Nearly 410,000 items of zircon U-Pb geochronological data, representing more than 7,000 relevant articles in the Elsevier Science Database, have been collected ...

Near‐Synchronous Cambrian Evolution of the Transbrasiliano‐Kandi‐4°50′ Shear Zone in South America and Africa

open access: yesTerra Nova, Volume 38, Issue 2, Page 97-105, April 2026.
ABSTRACT The Transbrasiliano‐Kandi‐4°50′ (TK4) shear zone in western Gondwana crosscuts South America and NW Africa for at least 6000 km. Despite its impressive size, the timing of the main episode of dextral ductile shearing is uncertain. We present detailed in situ multi‐mineral geochronology of mylonites from both Brazil and Algeria supporting that ...

Detrital-zircon geochronology and provenance of the Ocloyic synorogenic clastic wedge, and Ordovician accretion of the Argentine Precordillera terrane [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The Precordillera terrane in northwestern Argentina is interpreted to be anexotic (Laurentian) continental fragment that was accreted to western Gondwanaduring the Ordovician. One prominent manifestation of the subductionand collision process is a Middle?

Eocene Lamproitic Magmatism in Gangdese: Melting Sub‐Arc Lithospheric Mantle and Implications for the Early Cenozoic Magmatic “Flare Up” in Southern Tibet

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 27, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract The role of sub‐arc mantle lithosphere in the build‐up of a batholith is an outstanding issue that is still not well resolved. Lamproite is a mantle‐derived magmatic rock that provides a window to learn the composition and the enrichment processes of subcontinental lithospheric mantle (SCLM).

Zircon SHRIMP U-Pb dating of the Neogene coral reefs, Xisha Islands, South China Sea: implications for tectonic evolution

open access: yesChina Geology, 2018
: The Xisha Block is a minor one in the South China Sea and an important tectonic unit in the northwestern part of the region. Zircon SHRIMP U-Pb ages for three volcanic intrusive core samples from Xike-1, an exploratory well penetrating the bioherms of ...

The application of SHRIMP to Phanerozoic geochronology; a critical appraisal of four zircon standards

open access: yesChemical Geology, 2003
Derivation of Phanerozoic zircon 206Pb/238U ages by SHRIMP depends on calibration against an independently dated standard. The qualities of four different zircon standards (SL13, QGNG, AS3 and TEMORA 1) are assessed herein. Not all of these behave consistently on SHRIMP with respect to their ages as determined by IDTIMS.

The Paleo‐Tethys Suture Zone in the Afghan Hindu Kush‒Pamir: Geo‐Thermochronology, Geochemistry, Tectonics

open access: yesTectonics, Volume 45, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract In the Afghan Hindu Kush, the 223–209 Ma (≤800°C) Salang batholith is part of the Silk‐Road magmatic arc that was built on ∼40‐km‐thick Turan‐Karakum block continental crust. The batholith constitutes the hanging wall of the Herat‐Panjshir‐Badakhshan—the Paleo‐Tethys—suture zone, vestige of the subducted Paleozoic‐early Mesozoic Paleo‐Tethys ...
