Patients with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation still suffer from high rates of complication that linked to the flow field within the blood pump. So it is essential to optimise the geometry of the pump.

We have studied the copper sites in three cryogenic electron‐microscopy structures of particulate methane monooxygenase with quantum refinement. We show that the CuA, CuC and CuD sites are correctly modelled and that the CuB site is mononuclear in all structures, whereas we find no support for copper in the suggested trinuclear active site or two sites

Thrust-isolating mounting [PDF]
A supporting frame for a load, such as one or more telescopes, is isolated from all multi-gravitational forces, which will be developed within that load as that load is propelled into space, by using a shroud to fully and solidly hold that load until ...

The Hour that Never Comes and the Time that Remains
Abstract This essay proposes a symbolic and clinical investigation of psychic temporality through two archetypal experiences of time: the hour that never comes and the time that remains. Drawing on analytical psychology, trauma theory and aesthetic philosophy, text explores how certain forms of suffering resist chronological resolution and persist as ...

National identity after conquest
Abstract Conquering powers routinely adopt state‐directed nationalization projects that seek to make the boundaries of the nation coterminous with the (newly expanded) boundaries of the state. To this end, they implement policies that elevate the economic status of individuals who embrace the occupier's national identity and discriminate against those ...

The choice argument for proportional representation
Abstract What electoral system should a democracy choose? I argue for proportional representation (PR). My main empirical premise is Duverger's law: Under PR there are more viable candidates in district‐level elections than there are under single‐member plurality (SMP) systems.

Fractal Theory and Contact Dynamics Modeling Vibration Characteristics of Damping Blade
The contact surface structure of dry friction damper is complicate, irregular, and self-similar. In this paper, contact surface structure is described with the fractal theory and damping blade is simplified as 2-DOF cantilever beam model with lumped ...

CALIBRATION OF BTT MEASUREMENT WITH RESPECT TO SENSOR POSITION OVER SHROUDED LSB
In order to increase efficiency and reliability of steam turbines, last stage blades are equipped with mid-span tie-boss and shroud. We can use Blade Tip-Timing method (BTT) to measure vibration of shrouded blades, but the measured level of vibration is ...
