Shrub and dwarf shrub communities of Sangilen Plateau [PDF]
The paper presents a detailed ecological and caenotic characteristic of dwarf shrub and shrub communities growing in the highmountain belt of the Sangilen Plateau. The communities investigated were referred to the class of Loiseleurio-Vaccinietea Eggler 1952.

Constraints on shrub cover and shrub–shrub competition in a U.S. southwest desert [PDF]
AbstractThe cover of woody perennial plants (trees and shrubs) in arid ecosystems is at least partially constrained by water availability. However, the extent to which maximum canopy cover is limited by rainfall and the degree to which soil water holding capacity and topography impacts maximum shrub cover are not well understood.

A shrub bending model to calculate the albedo of shrub-tundra [PDF]
At high latitudes, the albedo and energy budget of shrub-tundra landscapes is determined by the relationship between the fractional snow cover and the fraction of vegetation protruding above the snowpack. The exposed vegetation fraction is affected by the bending and/or burial of shrubs in winter and their spring-up during melt.

Dwarf shrubs as bioindicators. [PDF]
Several studies of air polluted forest environments have shown that dwarf shrubs suffer from air pollution. In many cases the disturbances have been attributed to the susceptibility of the dwarf shrubs, while in some cases the vegetational competition factor has been discussed.

AbstractObservations of land surface and snowpack energetics and mass fluxes were made over arctic shrub tundra of varying canopy height and density using radiometers, eddy covariance flux measurements, and snow mass changes from snow surveys of depth and density.

Modelled sensitivity of the snow regime to topography, shrub fraction and shrub height [PDF]
Abstract. Recent studies show that shrubs are colonizing higher latitudes and altitudes in the Arctic. Shrubs affect the wind transport, accumulation and melt of snow, but there have been few sensitivity studies of how shrub expansion might affect snowmelt rates and timing.

Pruning Landscape Trees and Shrubs
The objective of this document is to present pruning techniques for Florida trees, shrubs and palms. The need for pruning, timing, types of pruning, tree pruning, shrub pruning and tools are discussed separately. Specific examples will support the pruning concepts.
