A series of Siamese twin designs

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics, 2009
A $\{; ; 0, \pm 1\}; ; $-matrix $S$ is called a Siamese twin design sharing the entries of $I$, if $S=I+K-L$, where $I, K, L$ are non-zero $\{; ; 0, 1\}; ; $-matrices and both $I+K$ and $I+L$ are incidence matrices of symmetric designs with the same parameters. Let $p$ and $2p+3$ be prime powers and $p \equiv 3\ (mod\ 4)$.

Microbiome‐blood–brain barrier interactions in aging — mechanisms and therapeutic potential

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Aging reshapes the gut microbiome (↓SCFA‐producing commensals; ↑pro‐inflammatory outputs), shifting circulating metabolites (↓SCFAs; ↑LPS, ↑TMAO, ↑PAA) that act at the BBB to increase nonspecific transcytosis, alter transport, and promote astrocyte reactivity, heightening brain vulnerability.

Transcripts enriched in codons that trigger P‐site tRNA‐mediated mRNA decay possess stable mRNA

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
PTMD codons were first described by Mendel et al. as mediators of an mRNA decay pathway dependent on the human protein CNOT3, homologous to yeast Not5. Our findings confirm that PTMD codons destabilize transcripts; however, unlike in yeast, the human pathway specifically targets and slightly destabilizes primarily stable mRNAs.
