High velocities in the uppermost mantle of the Siberian craton

Tectonophysics, 1996
Abstract Anomalous high seismic velocities (up to 8.8 km/s) have been reported (Suvorov et al., 1985) in the mantle beneath the kimberlite areas of Siberia. High mantle velocities were also observed on some GEON Center profiles, carried out using nuclear explosions (Egorkin et al., 1987).

TEM-TDEM soundings in the eastern Siberian craton

Russian Geology and Geophysics, 2008
Abstract We report forward modeling results for transient magnetic fields excited by horizontal electric or vertical magnetic dipoles. Modeling was performed with reference to resistivity patterns typical of platform areas in East Siberia.

The Vendian accretionary event in the southwestern margin of the Siberian Craton

Doklady Earth Sciences, 2007
The present-day southwestern margin of the Siberian Craton is represented by its Early Precambrian inliers (Angara‐Kan and Sayan) and Mesoproterozoic‐ Neoproterozoic marginal continental region that includes the Yenisei Range and Sayan areas (Fig. 1). The Early Precambrian evolution of structures of the Siberian Craton culminated with formation of the ...

Seismotectonic Activation of Modern Structures of the Siberian Craton

Geotectonics, 2018
Our research of the modern structures of Siberian Craton aims to reveal regional regularities in the seismotectonic destruction of the Earth’s crust and to clarify the dynamics of the formation of the focal zones of strong earthquakes. Analysis of activated structures and marginal suture zones located in the study area was based on structural and ...

Heat flow and destabilized cratons: a comparative study of the North China, Siberian, and Wyoming cratons

International Geology Review, 2016
ABSTRACTHeat has a close relation to cratonic stability. We reconstructed the thermal history of the eastern North China, Wyoming, and Siberian cratons by using xenolith and thermal indicator data, and then the thermal lithospheric thickness in geological time was calculated by combining the crustal structural and thermal parameters.

Assembly of the Siberian Craton: Constraints from Paleoproterozoic granitoids

Precambrian Research, 2020
Abstract The paper presents a synthesis of geochronological, geochemical, and isotopic data on Paleoproterozoic granitoids in the Siberian craton and, in some cases, on volcanics related to these granitoids. Different evolution stages of the craton, including its assembly, are recorded in several major events in the history of Paleoproterozoic ...

Recommendations for Geophysical Studies of the Siberian Craton Basement

Proceedings, 2014
Hydrocarbon accumulations in the basement rocks found in the North American (U.S., Mexico), South American (Colombia, Brazil, Venezuela), the African-Arabian (Libya, Morocco, Egypt), East European (Yugoslavia, Hungary, Ukraine, Austria ), South China (China), Indochina (Vietnam) platforms, the West Siberian (Russia) and the Western European plate ...

Cambrian Photosynthetic and Chemosynthetic Ecosystems in the Siberian Craton

Paleontological Journal, 2018
The leading role of bacterial communities in the formation of marine sedimentary rocks is inferred from the synthesis of expert knowledge about bacterial paleontology, while the results of oceanic studies (materials and data) offer new insights into symbiotic relationships between phototrophic and chemotrophic bacteria and fauna.

Middle Paleozoic kimberlite magmatism in the northeastern Siberian craton

Doklady Earth Sciences, 2016
The mineral chemistry and crystal morphology of kimberlite pyropes from the Billyakh River placer in the northeastern Siberian craton are characterised in terms of the placer history. The pyropes bear signatures of chemical weathering (dissolution), presumably in a Middle Paleozoic laterite profile, and therefore were originally hosted by Middle ...

Depositional sequences and palaeoceanographic change in the Ordovician of the Siberian craton

Palaeogeography, Palaeoclimatology, Palaeoecology, 2010
Abstract Nine major depositional sequences separated by regional unconformities are recognized in the Ordovician of the Siberian Craton. These sequences are typically characterized by an absence of lowstand systems tracts, relatively thin transgressive systems tracts and somewhat thicker shallowing upward highstand systems tracts.
