Allozymes characterize sibling species of bipolar Priapulida (Priapulus, Priapulopsis)

Polar Biology, 1996
Electrophoretic polymorphism of glucosephosphate isomerase (Gpi*) and phosphoglucomutase (Pgm*) polymorphisms were assayed in the bipolardisjunct species pairsPriapulus caudatus/P. tuberculatospinosus andPriapulopsis bicaudatus/Priapulopsis australis (phylum Priapulida).

Centromere epigenetics of Tribolium sibling species

2018
The flour beetle Tribolium castaneum and its congener Tribolium freemani are important world-wide pests of stored agricultural products. The two sibling species are able to mate, but produce sterile hybrid progeny in reciprocal crosses. In the context of genetic diversity between closely related species we focused on centromere regions that generally ...

Divergent trophic levels in two cryptic sibling bat species

Oecologia, 2011
Changes in dietary preferences in animal species play a pivotal role in niche specialization. Here, we investigate how divergence of foraging behaviour affects the trophic position of animals and thereby their role for ecosystem processes. As a model, we used two closely related bat species, Myotis myotis and M.

Identical satellite DNA sequences in sibling species of Drosophila

Journal of Molecular Biology, 1987
The evolution of simple satellite DNAs was examined by DNA-DNA hybridization of ten Drosophila melanogaster satellite sequences to DNAs of the sibling species, Drosophila simulans and Drosophila erecta. Seven of these repeat types are present in tandem arrays in D. simulans and each of the ten sequences is repeated in D. erecta.

SIBLING SPECIES OF SMALL AFRICAN HONEY‐GUIDES

Ibis, 1962
SUMMARYIt is now clear that Indicator exilis does not have so extensive a range or so many geographic races as were attributed to it only a few years ago. Alongside exilis, over a large part of its distribution in forested tropical Africa, lives a sibling species, I. willcocksi, of somewhat more greenish colouration, usually more streaked on the crown.

Molecular detection of sibling species in anisakid nematodes.

Parassitologia, 2007
The number of sibling species of anisakid nematodes detected over the last two decades has been increased, fuelled by the use of genetic/molecular methodologies. In the present review, we summarize the biological species discovered within most of the nominal species belonging to the genera Anisakis, Contracaecum and Pseudoterranova by the use of ...
