Learning multiple non-mutually-exclusive tasks for improved classification of inherently ordered labels [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Medical image classification involves thresholding of labels that represent malignancy risk levels. Usually, a task defines a single threshold, and when developing computer-aided diagnosis tools, a single network is trained per such threshold, e.g. as screening out healthy (very low risk) patients to leave possibly sick ones for further analysis (low ...

Part-time sick leave as a treatment method for individuals with musculoskeletal disorders [PDF]

open access: yes
There is increasing evidence that staying active is an important part of a recovery process for individuals on sick leave due to musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). It has been suggested that using part-time sick-leave rather than full-time sick leave will

Experiences within the process of sick leave

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Occupational Therapy, 2006
The aim of this study was to explore what individuals who have been on sick leave experienced as important in the process of returning to work, moving to long-term sick leave, or receiving a disability pension. Grounded Theory was used for interpreting interviews with 15 people who had been on sick leave four years previously. In the results four ideal

Poly(1,4‐anthraquinone) as an Organic Electrode Material: Interplay of the Electronic and Structural Properties due to the Unusual Lone‐Pair‐π Conjugation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
In this study, the unique role of the unusual lone‐pair‐π conjugation mechanism in poly(1,4‐anthraquinone) (P14AQ) is explored as an organic electrode material. Unlike traditional π‐π interactions, P14AQ's conjugation involves lone pairs of oxygen atoms interacting with the π cloud of adjacent units, enabling stable charge transport even with minimal π‐

In‐Situ Growth of 2D MOFs as a Molecular Sieving Layer on SnS2 Nanoflakes for Realizing Ultraselective H2S Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
The ultraselective H2S detection of the ZIF‐L/SnS2 heterostructure is demonstrated. The introduction of 2‐dimensional (2D) breathable ZIF‐L results in a substantial increase in H2S selectivity attributable to the molecular sieving effect, which impedes the permeation of gases with large kinetic diameters and high polarity.

Is part-time sick leave helping the unemployed? [PDF]

open access: yes
Using a discrete choice one-factor model, we estimate mean treatment parameters and distributional treatment parameters to analyze the effects of degree of sick leave on the probability of full recovery of lost work capacity for employed and unemployed ...

The lack of paid sick leave as a barrier to cancer screening and medical care-seeking: results from the National Health Interview Survey [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
BACKGROUND: Preventive health care services, such as cancer screening can be particularly vulnerable to a lack of paid leave from work since care is not being sought for illness or symptoms.

Regioselective and Anisotropic Multi‐Patching of Small Microparticles via a Polymer Brush‐Assisted Microcontact Printing (µCP)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A method to fabricate anisotropic SiO2 patchy microspheres is presented using a modified microcontact printing technique. This involves a PDMS elastomer stamp with grooved surface topography, creating a confined environment for the microspheres.
