We noted with pleasure that an article by Bergman and Wiesner in the November 1976 issue of Pediatrics (p. 665) confirmed both our own earlier data1 and that of Steele and Langworth2 demonstrating an increased incidence of maternal cigarette smoking in sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).
