Energy‐Saving Dehydration of Primary Alcohol Under the Formation of Alkenes via a Bifunctional Clay Catalyst

A commercial acid‐leached bentonite is used in the dehydration reaction of alcohols. A yield of 52% in the alkene formation was observed with FULCAT®‐22 F. IR spectroscopy revealed changes in Brønsted and Lewis acid sites with temperature, driving the reaction to different yields.

Elucidating the Influence of Catalyst Cycling and Activation on the Activity of Ni‐based Layered Double Hydroxides for Electrochemical Oxidation of Ethylene Glycol to Formate

Ni‐based layered double hydroxides (LDH) are tested in electrochemical ethylene glycol oxidation and investigated regarding their activity. NiMn and NiCo LDH show promising electrolysis results especially in combination with electrode conditioning and activation, increasing formate yields by up to 68% at high Faraday efficiencies.

Hydrogen from Biogas: Dynamic Modeling of an Integrated Shift Reactor

A dynamic, two‐dimensional shift reactor model for the production of hydrogen from biogas is presented. This shift reactor enables the preheating of the biogas feed and, in parallel, reduces fixed‐bed temperatures, resulting in increased hydrogen yields. The model is validated with measurement data from a pilot biogas steam reforming plant.
