Dasylirion micropterum (Asparagaceae), a new species from Sierra Madre Oriental, Mexico

Phytotaxa, 2016
Dasylirion micropterum is described as a new species from high elevations of the Sierra Madre Oriental in the Mexican state of Coahuila. It differs from known species of Dasylirion for having ascending dark green leaves, narrow inflorescences, small fruits with narrow wings and its distribution restricted to the western side of the Sierra Madre ...

Late Holocene Vegetation Change in the Sierra Madre Oriental of Central Mexico

Quaternary Research, 2002
AbstractPast vegetation and climate changes reconstructed from a sediment core from Laguna Atezca, Molango, Mexico, provide new insights into the environmental and cultural histories of the Sierra Madre Oriental during the last 1700 yr. Pollen, microscopic charcoal, sediment chemistry, loss on ignition, and magnetic susceptibility indicate that three ...

Tectonics of Monterrey Salient, Sierra Madre Oriental, Northeastern Mexico: ABSTRACT

AAPG Bulletin, 1982
The Monterrey Salient formed as a result of uplift in the Mesa Central of Mexico and consequent gravitational sliding of the detached cover to the northeast during the Laramide orogeny. The salient is located south of Monterrey where the Sierra Madre Oriental orogenic belt arcs abruptly from an east-west to a north-south direction.

Changes in connectivity and hydrological efficiency following wildland fires in Sierra Madre Oriental, Mexico

Science of The Total Environment, 2019
Fire modifies soil surface, and hence soil hydrological properties change after wildland fires. High fire severity causes partial or total removal of vegetation, reduction of soil aggregate stability and increased water repellency, which are associated with high runoff and erosion.

DEFORMATION HISTORY OF THE SIERRA MADRE ORIENTAL, MEXICO, AND ASSOCIATED HYDROCARBON System

4th International Congress of the Brazilian Geophysical Society, 1995
An examination of the tectonic development and deformation style of the Sierra Madre Oriental (SMO) was undertaken as the first part of a joint project involving Pemex, the Instituto Mexicano del Petr61eo, and Amoco. This served as a starting point for an evaluation of the petroleum potential of this folded thrust belt.

Tectonic transpression in the Sierra Madre Oriental, northeastern Mexico: An alternative model

Geology, 1985
Visual analysis of the Shuttle Imaging Radar (SIR-A) of northeastern Mexico reveals the existence of several geologic features including (1) a well-developed pattern of en echelon folds, (2) juxtaposition of tectostratigraphic domains, (3) fold structures varying from fan-shaped, asymmetric to recumbent, doubly plunging anticlines, (4) anticlinal ...

The Upper Sinemurian ammonite succession in the Sierra Madre Oriental (Mexico).

2009
In the Sierra Madre Oriental (Mexico), the biostratigraphic subdivision of the Upper Sinemurian can be refined. It has been possible to differentiate 11 horizons from the upper Obtusum Zone to the top of the Raricostatum Zone which are correlated with the NW European standard zonation. The index species of each horizon is figured.
