Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

Ecological risk of typical coal gangue-based molecular sieves in cadmium-contaminated soil remediation

open access: yesShenzhen Daxue xuebao. Ligong ban
To investigate the application of using typical gangue-based molecular sieves as stabilizers for the remediation of soil contaminated with heavy metal cadmium (Cd), we used high iron content X-type molecular sieves (Fe-NaX) and amino-modified X-type ...

Synthesis of core–shell structured FAU/SBA-15 composite molecular sieves and their performance in catalytic cracking of polystyrene

open access: yesScience and Technology of Advanced Materials, 2017
Composite molecular sieves, FAU/SBA-15, having core-shell structure were synthesized. The synthesized composite sieves were characterized by X-ray diffractometry (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy ...

Estimation of Nonparametric Conditional Moment Models With Possibly Nonsmooth Generalized Residuals [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper studies nonparametric estimation of conditional moment models in which the generalized residual functions can be nonsmooth in the unknown functions of endogenous variables. This is a nonparametric nonlinear instrumental variables (IV) problem.

Development of human monoclonal antibodies against TARM1 by yeast display

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Human monoclonal antibodies against TARM1 are generated by yeast display‐guided selection. These antibodies bind to soluble and cell‐surface forms of TARM1. Also, these antibodies exhibit agonistic activity in the NFAT‐GFP reporter assay, indicating that TARM1 signaling can be functionally modulated by antibodies and suggesting TARM1 as a potential ...

Random sieves, II

open access: yesJournal of Number Theory, 1974
AbstractA proof is presented that the random sieve, a stochastic analogue of the sieve of Eratosthenes, generates sequences of numbers approximating the density of primes. The expected number En[h] of such numbers less than n satisfies En[h]/π(n)→1 and the actual number h(n), on any trial, approximates π(n) in the sense of the weak law of large numbers.

YlmG1 is localized exclusively to the chloroplast envelope membrane and is involved in preprotein translocation in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cytosolically synthesized chloroplast preproteins are translocated across the outer and inner envelope membranes through translocons called TOC and TIC, respectively. In green algae and plants, the TIC core is composed of essential membrane proteins, Tic12, Tic20, and Tic214.

Extended wet sieving method for determination of complete particle size distribution of general soils

open access: yesJournal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering
The traditional standard wet sieving method uses steel sieves with aperture ≥0.063 mm and can only determine the particle size distribution (PSD) of gravel and sand in general soil.
