GEOREFERENZIAZIONE ACCURATA, VELOCE E GRATUITA

open access: yesArcheomatica, 2012
La georeferenziazione di una immagine satellitare o di una fotografia aerea rispetto a un sistema di coordinate di riferimento risulta un processo spesso indispensabile per la comprensione del palinsesto archeologico.

Hierarchical spatial pyramid max pooling based on SIFT features and sparse coding for image classification

open access: yesIET Computer Vision, 2013
It is essential to build good image representations for many computer vision tasks. In this study, the authors propose a hierarchical spatial pyramid max pooling method based on scale‐invariant feature transform (SIFT) features and sparse coding, which ...

Tuning Amorphous‐Crystalline Catalytic Interfaces by Mechanochemistry: Cu‐Based Metallic Glasses Coupled with Ceria for CO Oxidation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ball‐milling Cu‐based metallic glasses with ceria creates a unique nanostructure where metallic glass particles are wrapped by CeO2 nanoparticles. The intimate integration triggers copper state reorganization during reaction and aging, boosting CO oxidation and COPrOx activity.

Multi-Modal Remote Sensing Image Registration Method Combining Scale-Invariant Feature Transform with Co-Occurrence Filter and Histogram of Oriented Gradients Features

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Multi-modal remote sensing images often exhibit complex and nonlinear radiation differences which significantly hinder the performance of traditional feature-based image registration methods such as Scale-Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT).

A Functional 2D Carbon Allotrope Combining Nanoporous Graphene and Biphenylene Segments

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The synthesis of a novel nanoporous graphene (NPG) is reported with biphenylene segments via thermal fusion of 12‐armchair porous graphene nanoribbons grown on gold surfaces. Characterization using STM, AFM, and DFT reveals low‐defect semiconducting behaviour and tunable band gaps.

Tough, Ductile, and Strong Hard‐Soft Cementitious Composite Enabled by Multi‐Material Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Drawing inspiration from the layered hard‐soft architecture found in sea sponges, this work establishes a new framework for architected cementitious composites (ACC) through multi‐material additive manufacturing (MMAM) process. The integration of mortar and elastomer phases into layered architectures enables synergistic toughening mechanisms, including

Polymorph‐Specific Electronic Transduction in WO3 during Molecular Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐oxide polymorphs with similar surface chemistry can nevertheless exhibit distinct sensing properties. In γ‐ and ε‐WO3, analyte adsorption appears comparable; yet, only ε‐WO3 induces a pronounced lattice electronic perturbation that accommodates charge in sub‐conduction band minimum states.
