During a fortnight's trial excavation, which I made at Methymna in 1929, certain fragments of sigillata came to light. These obviously required treatment by an expert, and Mr. Pryce most generously undertook to examine and publish them. As a prelude to his paper, I add a short note on the circumstances of their discovery.
