Comparison of cross-country measures of sigma-convergence in per-capita income, 1960–2010

Applied Economics Letters, 2018
The evidence on sigma-convergence in income indicated by (a) coefficient of variation (CV) and (b) SD of logarithms (SDLOG) is considered for a large cross-country sample covering the period 1960–2...

Real beta and sigma convergence in 27 transition countries, 1990–2005

Post-Communist Economies, 2009
The aim of this study is a detailed analysis of real economic convergence in 27 former socialist (or transition) countries. We focus on two concepts of convergence: absolute (unconditional) beta convergence and sigma convergence. The time frame of our study is 1990–2005. We provide a broad empirical picture of convergence.

Robust Optimization of PMLSM Based on a New Filled Function Algorithm With a Sigma Level Stability Convergence Criterion

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, 2021
Traditional design optimization methods for permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM) always pursuit the optimal result without considering the influence of uncertainties (manufacturing errors, use wear, etc.), which will result in big ...

TETING SIGMA CONVERGENCE ACROSS NEW EU MEMBERS [PDF]

open access: possibleRevista Economica, 2013
Even though the issue of convergence between the member states of European Union is an extremely debated subject nowadays, the existing disparities continue to persist and even accentuate. Furthermore the economists and researchers in the field are interested to analyze whether the rich economies will continue to develop and at what speed on one side ...

The wedge and sigma convergence among U.S. states

Atlantic Economic Journal, 1996
The paper attempts to empirically quantify the factors underlying sigma convergence among the contiguous states of the U.S. Using annual state data the study finds a significant effect of the wedge in explaining the variation in state per capita productivity.

On infinite matrices and lacunary σ-convergence

Applied Mathematics and Computation, 2011
A lacunary sequence is an increasing sequence \(\theta = (k_r)\) of non-negative integers where \(k_0=0\) with \(k_r-k_{r-1} \to \infty\) as \(r\to \infty\). Let \(\sigma\) be a one-to-one mapping from the set of natural numbers into itself. A continuous linear functional \(\phi\) on \(\ell _{\infty}\) is said to be an invariant mean or a \(\sigma ...

Sigma-convergence in the OECD: Transitional Dynamics or Narrowing Steady State Differences?

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2002
The empirical literature of growth has steadly improved the econometric methods used mainly to address the effect of cross-country heterogeneity in the estimated convergence rate. In this paper, we highlight an important implication of this process of econometric refinement that has so far received little attention.
