Semi-classical theory for quantum quenches in the O(3) non-linear sigma model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We use the semi-classical approach to study the non-equilibrium dynamics of the O(3) non-linear sigma model. For a class of quenches defined in the text, we obtain the order-parameter dynamical correlator in the thermodynamic limit.

Flow‐based immunomagnetic enrichment of circulating tumor cells from diagnostic leukapheresis product

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The number of circulating tumor cells obtained from prostate cancer patients was increased approximately 5‐fold compared to regular CellSearch when processing 2 mL diagnostic leukapheresis material aliquots and increased by 44‐fold when processing 20 mL DLA aliquots using the flow enrichment target capture Halbach‐array.

Anderson localization in sigma models [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2018
In QCD above the chiral restoration temperature there exists an Anderson transition in the fermion spectrum from localized to delocalized modes. We investigate whether the same holds for nonlinear sigma models which share properties like dynamical mass generation and asymptotic freedom with QCD. In particular we study the spectra of fermions coupled to

Identification of functional and diverse circulating cancer‐associated fibroblasts in metastatic castration‐naïve prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) promote cancer growth, invasion (metastasis), and drug resistance. Here, we identified functional and diverse circulating CAFs (cCAFs) in patients with metastatic prostate cancer (mPCa). cCAFs were found in higher numbers and were functional and diverse in mPCa patients versus healthy individuals, suggesting their ...

The theoretical study of $$p\bar{p}\rightarrow \bar{\Lambda }\Sigma \eta $$ p p ¯ → Λ ¯ Σ η reaction

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
We study the production of hyperon resonances in the $$p\bar{p}\rightarrow \bar{\Lambda }\Sigma \eta $$ p p ¯ → Λ ¯ Σ η reaction within an effective Lagrangian approach.

The extracytoplasmic stress factor, sigmaE, is required to maintain cell envelope integrity in Escherichia coli. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2008
Extracytoplasmic function or ECF sigma factors are the most abundant class of alternative sigma factors in bacteria. Members of the rpoE subclass of ECF sigma factors are implicated in sensing stress in the cell envelope of Gram-negative bacteria and are

A comparative study of circulating tumor cell isolation and enumeration technologies in lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Lung cancer cells were spiked into donor blood to evaluate the recovery rates of the following circulating tumor cell (CTC) enrichment technologies: CellMag™, EasySep™, RosetteSep™, Parsortix® PR1, and Parsortix® Prototype systems. Each method's advantages and disadvantages are described.

Color dipole cross section in the DGLAP improved saturation model

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2022
We show that the geometric scaling of the dipole cross section can be explained using standard DGLAP perturbative evolution. The DGLAP-improved saturation model due to the Laplace transform method is considered at LO and NNLO approximations from the ...

Edge-reinforced random walk, vertex-reinforced jump process and the supersymmetric hyperbolic sigma model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Edge-reinforced random walk (ERRW), introduced by Coppersmith and Diaconis in 1986, is a random process that takes values in the vertex set of a graph G, which is more likely to cross edges it has visited before.
