An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Positive solutions for a system of nonlinear boundary-value problems on time scales

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2009
We determine the values of a parameter $lambda$ for which there exist positive solutions to the system of dynamic equations $$displaylines{ u^{Delta Delta}(t)+lambda p(t)f(v(sigma(t)))=0,quad tin[a, b]_mathbb{T}, cr v^{Delta Delta}(t)+lambda q(t)g(u(

T-duality in (2, 1) superspace

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2019
We find the T-duality transformation rules for 2-dimensional (2,1) supersymmetric sigma-models in (2,1) superspace. Our results clarify certain aspects of the (2,1) sigma model geometry relevant to the discussion of T-duality.

Remark on CP-violating Polarization Asymmetry of tt-bar via Anomalous Couplings to gamma and Z

open access: yes, 1998
We calculate the CP-violating polarization asymmetry of tt-bar, delta =[ sigma(ee-bar --> t(-)t-bar(-))-sigma(ee-bar --> t(+)t-bar(+)) ]/ sigma(ee-bar --> tt-bar), for the most general tt-bar gamma/Z couplings without dropping any non-standard ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Existence of positive solutions for nonlinear dynamic systems with a parameter on a measure chain

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2007
In this paper, we consider the following dynamic system with parameter on a measure chain $mathbb{T}$, $$displaylines{ u^{DeltaDelta}_{i}(t)+lambda h_{i}(t)f_{i}(u_{1}(sigma(t)), u_{2}(sigma(t)),dots ,u_{n}(sigma(t)))=0,quad tin[a,b], cr alpha u_{i}(a ...

Exact controllability of a second order integro-differential equation with a pressure term

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations, 1998
This paper is concerned with the boundary exact controllability of the equation $$u''-\Delta u-\int_0^t g(t-\sigma)\Delta u(\sigma) d\sigma=-\nabla p$$ where $Q$ is a finite cilinder $\Omega\times]0,T[$, $\Omega$ is a bounded domain of $R^n$, $u=(u_1(x,t)

β‐TrCP overexpression enhances cisplatin sensitivity by depleting BRCA1

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low levels of β‐TrCP (Panel A) allow the accumulation of BRCA1 and CtIP, which facilitate the repair of cisplatin‐induced DNA damage via homologous recombination (HR) and promote tumor cell survival. In contrast, high β‐TrCP expression (Panel B) leads to BRCA1 and CtIP degradation, impairing HR repair, resulting in persistent DNA damage and apoptosis ...
